I was just thinking that!

Most Brits would know what an ATM is...if only from that episode of 'Friends' where there is a blackout and Chandler gets stuck int he ATM vestibule with a lingerie model!

I always loved that in India ATM stands for 'Anytime Machine'.

I have definitely gotten bewildered looks before when I asked for an ATM (including a look like that from my husband once), so I don't think all Brits have necessarily been fans of Friends.  They might work it out (translating from the American term to what it's called here) sooner or later, but it might be better to call the thing by its name here all the same.  :)

Hi - there is a Barclays machine in Heathrow's underground train station.

However, there is no Barclays machine at Leeds Airport, but you will find a Barclays Bank in pretty much every town.  Where are you heading from Leeds Airport?  There are branches all over Yorkshire.

If you cope with jetlag anything like as badly as I do, I wouldn't trust myself to carry large amounts of cash after an overnight flight, and I'd go to the bank the next day!!

We're heading to Huddersfield, but I wanted to stop to get cash before we went there because we also want to pick up cell phones and a car seat for our son on the way.  Thanks for the info about the Heathrow one-- I just plan on getting enough cash for the phones, car seat, and B&B.  I'm going to save worrying about getting larger amounts for rent and deposits later, when I've got some sleep under my belt, haha.
