I took the test 6 times, that's how many times it took me before I passed!
Trust me, at the time, I was questioning everything. I got this same instructor 4 times and I absolutely insisted that he had something against me personally. Each time he would say something like, 'you are such a good driver, if it weren't for this one thing, you would have passed'. I tried everything I could think of, taking the test in a different car to the one my instructor used, trying a different instructor (who was terrible!), eating bananas (I read somewhere that helps somehow
) among other things. I contemplated on going to this place in Scotland where the pass rate is about 78% but then I thought if I failed then, I would virtually give up on life. I don't have unlimited funds either, but passing was something I had to do to feel like I was making the transition here.
On my 6th go, I got a visiting examiner from Newcastle (I am in Huddersfield). She was very relaxed and I went in with my normal attitude 'what will be, will be'. I was convinced I had failed when I got back to the test centre as I didn't have my best drive ever. Was shocked to find out that I did indeed pass! I gave my instructor the biggest hug and told him no offence, but I was never so glad to be rid of someone. I do think that sometimes you can get someone who is power crazy and somehow gets off on that sort of thing.
I was convinced I would never pass. I don't know how many times it will take but you will pass.
Quitting is not an option, think of all of the wasted time, money, and effort if you did! On the 16th of this month, I celebrated my 2 year anniversary of passing (how sad is that, but that's how absolutely monumental it was to me!) Everyone says it, but if you know how close I was to giving up and forgetting the whole thing, I would say 'if I can do it....anybody can'.
Sending positive vibes for your next test
