Just be sure you have enough space on your counter for it. My mom keeps her in the cupboard because she doesn't have a lot of space and it's REALLY heavy to move back and forth. She feels bad that she doesn't use it as often as she'd like because it's a hassle for her to get it out.

Yes, it is a hassle to move about. My mother has a similar problem. I think the new place we're going to will have more counter space though - I hope!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

See, the counter space is a huge issue -- I have so little of it.  The husband bought me a compact bread machine, which I didn't really want.  It's currently perched on the counter and methinks it's going to be consigned to ... um ... I don't know where.  Either way, the stand mixer trumps the bread machine for a place on the counter.

Kitchenaid Mixers are worth the counter space, throw everything else away. I keep my bread machine, ice cream machine, ice machine etc etc are in the garage, so I only bring them in when I need them.

I like to bake, so I use my mixer at least once a week. Its worth the counter space!

I'm determined the next house we live in will have an under-the-stairs cupboard or something similar for me to store all of my little-used appliances!!

You won't regret it, Cait. They are  pain to move around (super heavy) and take up quite a bit of space but every single time I make cookies, etc. I realise how worth it it is!!

Well, I'm definitely talked into it.  Now the poor, poor delivery guy ... he is going to HATE me.  Not only have I gotten the stand mixer, but a bucket load of Le Creuset pans on sale.  I suspect it will be damn near 70lbs worth of crap he'll be humping up three floors.

Ah well, better he than thee!  ;)

Just chiming in to say you won't regret either the Kitchen Aid mixer or the Le Crueset purchases.  I also have the mixer.  I don't use it everyday, but I love it more everytime I use it!

My mom still uses her Kitchen Aid mixer that she bought when I was in high school.  I just got my invitation to the 30 year class reunion, so you know the mixer is built to last.  Good quality kitchen gear is great value for the money.

Enjoy your new purchases!   ;D

both kitchenaid mixers and the pots are so worth it!!!  I love both of them!!  What colors are you doing on the La Crueset?  DH started me with the red ones, but I kind of prefer the blue--don't want to switch halfway through though.

I held out on Le Creuset for a long time, having been turned off by all the hype. But I finally bought one and I looooove it. Best thing ever for rice. And soup. I have the satin blue, and it just makes me happy. :D

I really want a KitchenAid, but I'm waiting until we stop moving every year or two. :P

Like Elynor, I'm going for the Satin Blue.  I already have a 30cm casserole in brown, but it was second hand and still going strong.  Can't see replacing that one.

You won't regret it!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Even if you don't use it all the time it's well worth having especially with all the options for attachments.

Just don't store it in a high place as it's heavy...mines on a high cabinet and is a pain to get down and put back up.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

I LOVE mine! I have a US one I run on a transformer. It works a charm.

I'm sooooooooooo glad to read this! I have the Professional (only time DH would dare to give me a household appliance for a Christmas present. Heck, I demanded it!!)

I was worried I'd have to leave it behind. I love my mixer, use it several times a month. It makes short work of lots of stuff. So you mean I can really bring mine and run it on a transformer???

Hubby was trying to scare me that I'll burn up the motor, blah, blah, blah.

I don't care. It can sit on the freakin' coffee table and I'll say it's modern art!!!
