Visiting back home - food list
« on: November 15, 2008, 05:46:01 PM »
My mom wants me to email her a list of food stuff I want her to get for my visit home next Friday.

So far, I can only think of:

Wheat thins!

Any ideas?  I want to get my American food fill while I'm there! :)

What about grape jelly/jam? Or Aunt Jemima syrup?

I always go out for Mexican food pretty much immediately!

Snacks definitely - I'm with ya on the wheat thins. Also triscuits. And fritos. Pickles - lots and lots of kosher dills. Anchor Steam beer. Bonny Doon wine. (Not that I'm a lush or anything  :P ) Gizdich apple juice (that's a regional thing). Sourdough bread.

Oh and Yael? I LOVE your avatar.  :)

I second triscuits. Also, I had my mom buy me a bag of Mother's Circus Animal Cookies because Mother's has gone under and they won't exist anymore.

white cheddar cheeze its, kosher dills, Campbells soup, root beer, fritos, apple cider, mexican food (heck, I'm getting that straight off the plane!!), pierogies, and Jewish food (matzoh ball soup, rugelach, latkes).
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thanks for the ideas! Oh, Mexican food is already a given!  :)

My list is:

Cheeze-its
Triscuits
Goldfish crackers
Fritos
Wheat Thins
Kosher dill pickles
Swiss Cheese
Diet root beer

I even had the cheek to ask for reduced fat where available!

I noticed no one has mentioned Twizzlers. Dh & I always get at 3 or 4 big bags of them when were in the States to bring back with us that is one of the few American sweets Dh actually enjoys.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] for the list Yael has that pretty much looks like part of my list that I always bring back with us minus the Diet Rootbeer.

I need dried, not candied, orange peel.  I found it in Hong Kong, but not here.
