FOUND- blue moon!!!!!!!!
« on: November 16, 2008, 02:36:26 PM »
I am at Sainsbury's and just found Blue Moon beer!!! We nearly cleaned them out. They're £1.99 a bottle (not very big ones) and right now are 4 for 3. DH and I are freaking out!

I've never heard of it before.

I'm assuming its something you bought in the US?

This is great news! I was kind of sad about maybe not getting it over there anymore once I move! (Silly, huh?)

Yael- it's a "belgian style" beer. Just easy to drink, though. I actually think it's made by Coors.

It is made by a microbrewery that Coor's owns, I think.  It's a Belgian-style wheat beer. Typically served with an orange slice, but still great on its own.

We just got back from a 3-week trip to the States on Tuesday and the entire time we were there, we'd only drink Blue Moon.  Well, and Harvest Moon, their seasonal pumpkin ale.  And Firestone (local microbrewery that is where we're from).

I'm thinking it might be a temporary thing though, because it's not on Sainsbury's grocery website. :(

Actually it's never been microbrewery beer. They started brewing it at Coors Field (Denver baseball stadium) and then when it hit off they started brewing it in bulk at the plant. I recall doing the Coors tour near when I graduated high school (so 1998-ish and I grew up in Golden) and they were showing off where they were making it in the big factory then.

Haha.  That's funny because their website says it's brewed in Canada by Blue Moon Brewing Company (owned by Coor's).  Oh well, even if they're not completely honest, I still love it. :)

Someone on here was looking for blue moon, so they will be happy...

Though I am so jealous of the person who drank pumpkin beer in the states.

They might have moved production this year because they did wind up buying out Molson so it's no longer Coors, it's Molson-Coors Brewing.

Isn't Coors also murging with  Anheuser  Bush?

Now if we found Fat Tire over here, hubby would be happy.

wow, that's really exciting. I used to almost exclusively drink Blue Moon, but made myself pretty tired of it. It is so easy to drink, if you feel like a drink and not really a beer beer. I'll be over there in July/August, so they better still have it!

I ordered it for fiancee when he was here in Sept. and he didn't like it. But I think mostly he was embarrassed because they served it to him in a skinny glass with the orange. We were in a biker bar. Not by choice.

MolsonCoors and SABMiller merged their US operations into MillerCoors.  The merger has no effect on the world outside the US.
