T1 Maintenance Update
« on: November 16, 2008, 05:47:02 PM »
Due to the number of applicants that are misunderstanding the T1 maintenance requirement, UKBA is going to amend the guidance on their site.  It won't be available until the end of the month, so for the interim...

[1] Copies of bank statements are ok if they are signed and stamped by the bank.

[2] Letters from the bank cannot be substituted for required evidence.

NOTE:  this is T1 only!  Spouse and fiance applications are not part of the PBS.

A letter written by a bank can be attached to different documents, and what's worse is that people here would do it without hesitation!

Here's a partial quote...

We have also noted [...]'s comments.  When drafting the guidance for Tier 1 Maintenance we felt we had left scope for stamped, online statements to be accepted.  However, it has become apparent that customers are not interpreting the guidance in this way...

So if the bank writes a letter, or if they sign/stamp online statements, it's 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.  That's the rationale.

So when banks refuse to do this, then Tier 1 cannot be achieved.  Magic.

HSBC just flat out refused to provide me with statements at their local branch, telling me to just go online and print them out since I had an online-only account. The local BofA branch said any statements they print out would be indistinguishable from the version I'd get if I had printed the online statements out myself.

In the end, after a week of running back and forth to my local branches, I just decided to chance it and print my PDF-format statements out with a color laser printer. Luckily, it was never an issue and my T1 visa was approved.

I am very pleased that this happened, but it is horrific the way that there is no continuity in this.

I bet most of those are on maintenence from people who blatantly do meet the requirements just can't comply with the silly, niggly detail.

You'll like this one...  No disabled dependents over 18 for T2.  Including ICT's.  No FLR when they reach majority either.  :o

What did I say about having a PBS like Australia... they are copying the whole damn thing, including excluding disabled dependents.  It is clearly a message that says "we need you to work for us, but we just don't your family..."  How obscene is that?

Sorry, what are ICTs?  Intra-company transfers?

yes, talk about forcing people to make unbearable decisions -- a boss really wants to transfer someone to the London office, but they have a teenager in a wheelchair ...

Inhumane.
