UKY Cookie Exchange 2008
« on: November 17, 2008, 06:09:34 PM »
I just wanted to let people know, as I've received a few inquiries, what the story is with a UKY Cookie Exchange 2008. Well, the answer is there could be one- BUT only if someone else wants to organize it.  :-[

Unfortunately, with me moving back to the US in 4 days and then helping my mother move shortly thereafter, I cannot commit to organizing anything.

Those who participated had a lot of fun - even though we did have a few packages go astray (Royal Mail's fault!) and some people ask to participate and then disappear.  ::)

So if you're interested in participating, post here - or if you want to organize it (it's easy to do!), just start a new thread!

Happy baking!

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I'd be happy to organize it.  :)

Anyone that is interested in doing it please PM me. I will be away from Friday until December 6th, so I will make that the deadline for joining in. I will post the details of what is involved for the exchange on Thursday.

First of all, I just could not resist the temptation to say this to the Subject about the UKY Cookie Exchange.

Does this mean that I can live in the UK ?  [smiley=huh2.gif]

I guess we will just slap some postage on you and send you back and forth.

Just make sure no improper handling occurs.

I'd be up for it, but I leave for the states for x-mas on the 17th, so whoever got me would have to send them before then...  Guess that doesn't leave anyone much time  :-\\\\

I'll keep that date in mind, maybe that works for someone else that is interested.

Ok, here are the details for the UKY 2008 Cookie Exchange:

PM me before December 8th if you are interested in participating and if you have any allergies that your bakers should take into account. When I've compiled the list of people participating, I will PM each participant with the names and info for the people they will be sending to. Everyone will get 2 names and, like last year, should send their cookies before New Years. I think a dozen, each, of 2 types of cookies (24 total) to each of your exchange buddies would be a good guideline. US folks are welcome to participate too!

I don't think that we need to limit it to 'cookies' so feel free to do fudge or candy too. Also, it is nice to include the recipe when you send it.

This was a lot of fun last year, but please know that if you agree to do it, it is really important to follow through because there is nothing more disappointing than expecting cookies and getting nothing.  ;)

PM me if you are in!  :D

I just got back and wanted to bump this. I haven't gotten enough response to make it worth doing, so come on bakers and non-bakers too! PM me!

I have gotten very little response to this, unfortunately.  :(

This is a last chance... if anyone is interested please PM me today, otherwise it won't be happening this year.

Last year it was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to enjoy some yummy treats from some great UKY bakers! Come on people!!  :D

Thanks to the few people that PMed me, but the response to the cookie exchange wasn't enough to make it worth doing.  :(

I understand that things are a bit tight for a lot of us this year, and the more frivolous things have to be put aside. We'll try again next year.  :)
