Um........  It was UKBA that chose the poor service.  I guess your comment should be directed towards them then?

As has been said before, they publicly advise that applicants enclose a prepaid SD envelope for return. If this is not done, you get Recorded Delivery.

I thought it was mentioned on here lately that even if you include that they don't always use it?

One person said they got the SD envelope back unused with thir documents, and one other person said that the SD envelopes they supplied were always used.

We used to send special delivery envelopes. In about three months (that is around 90 applications) not once were they used.  Sometimes they were sent back as part of the other documentation, other times they were just kept.

Mine was sent back along with my other documentation.

Gord... Another thing for the UKY Advocacy hopper...

So Vicky, I assumed you stopped after that point.

The UKBA site does say they are supposed to return it Special Delivery if you send it with enough postage and large enough for them to return it as per: http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier1/businesspersons/settlement/wheretosendform/

Does anyone else have cases where they sent a SD envelope large enough with the postage paid but got them back Registered?

They didn't say my envelope wasn't large enough or had enough postage, they said they thought it would be more secure in their envelope. My envelope was one of those kind that are cardboard so they don't bend (but my stuff could easily fit in because I tried it out). Their envelope was normal.

Yes.  Though, I admit, this was around 5 years ago!  After losing about £300 on wasted postage we figured there was no point.
