Never thought I'd say it, but I could do with a big ol' hunk of Velveeta right about now!

It's strange how you miss things you never thought you'd miss!  Last week I found myself standing in ASDA wishing for a jar of CHEEZWHIZ...ick!

(But seriously, where can I get a jar?!)   ;D

Here is a Pancake Recipe Howard.

Ah, right!  Thanks for that, VNP.  We would call pancakes made to that recipe "Scotch pancakes" or "Drop scones".  You can get them ready-made in my Tesco.  What we Brits call simply "pancake" is the same as what the French would call a crêpe, as in "crêpes suzette" (**trying to resist a play on words about our ancient enemies being "full of crêpe", but failing, failing ...**)

Here's another essential from back home I can't seem to find--those little cans of chopped green chiles. Old El Paso was favourite brand back home. I've tried everywhere and no one seems to have them. And I can't find canned pinto beans either, although my local Sainsbury's carries Old El Paso refried beans--at a staggering £1.29 a can! LOL To think I used to be outraged at paying 59 cents for them in the US.

Sainsbury's has tinned pinto beans.  I buy them all the time - along with red kidney beans, borlotti beans and black eyed beans (peas).

My local Sainsburys sells tinned pinto beans, but i usually buy the dry ones and cook them myself.  I love the smell of pinto beans simmering with garlic and a couple of chipotles!  In fact, i think i will go and put a pot on just now!

For your chopped green chiles... do you mean the Ortega kind?  If so, you will probably have to mail order them... try:  http://www.lupepintos.com/mexican.htm

If you like Bourbon...not the vanilla extract, the real thing...bring some.  It is nearly impossible to get decent bourbon in the UK, all the more so the further away from London you are.  And when you can find Bourbon, it costs a farking fortune.
