Cadbury Creme Egg Bars
« on: December 02, 2008, 10:39:39 PM »
This is probably the most unimportant post ever made to UKY, but I'm desperate.  I heard that Creme Eggs are available all year here, but I can NOT find them.  News agents, grocery stores, nowhere.  Then I was told about Creme Egg Bars.  Where do I find them?  Or eggs?  I'm dying here!!  I'm in West Yorkshire if it helps, bouncing between Keighley, Dewsbury, and Wakefield.

It's weird that people say they are available all year, because I've never seen them around for the whole year (and I was born and raised here). I have seen them go from being only available at Easter time (between about Feb and April) to being in the shops from January 1st right through to early May, but that's not even for half the year  ???.

You should be able to find the eggs in the stores again in early 2009, but I would just keep looking around for the Creme Egg bars - in supermarkets or corner shops... anywhere that sells chocolate bars... to see if they are in stock. I'm pretty sure that we had some in the Boots store I work in just a few weeks ago, so anywhere would be worth looking :P.

I've only known them to come into stores for the Easter time of year, both in the UK and in the US, although that doesn't mean that perhaps some places do obtain and sell them year-round -- which would be great. Haven't heard of a bar, just the eggs.

I've never seen any around the rest of the year, but maybe some places have them - I'm not sure.

The bar has only been around for a few months - I didn't know what they were until I moved home this summer... and I'd only been out of the UK for 8 months!

No advice since I'm in the US, but I love the creme egg bars, they're fabulous!!! I bought some in the spring of 2007 when I was in England, so they have been around a while.

Oh, sorry - I'm getting mixed up with the bar that they filled with Creme Egg (like a Dairy Milk) that has been around for a while and the new 'Creme Egg Twisted' bar that they released in May 2008  :-[!

McDonald's does a McFlurry with the Creme Egg Twisted.... those are nice.  At least that might be some kind of fix until you find the bars... or just reach behind the counter at McD's and nick some!!!   ;)

Occasionally you can find Creme Eggs at random off licenses or newsagents being sold at odd times of the year.  However, it's completely hit-or-miss who will stock them and when.  So they are available if you look hard enough, but unfortunately it's a bit random if/when you'll find any.

The creme egg twisted is much better than the original creme egg bar.  The ratio of creme egg to chocolate in the twist is much closer to the Eggs.  The Twist bars should be available at most Boots, Woolworths, Supermarkets etc.
I agree with most of the posters that the Eggs for the most part are seasonal (jan - may), but that you might find a few in a random newsagent at anytime of the year.  I would question their freshness though.

If you are up for a road trip....the cadbury factory in Birmingham has an on site shop that sells boxes of them.  I went about 5 years ago and bought a box of 48, it took me over a year to plow through that many.  It was heaven having them around at my disposal.

Just saw some of those Twisted bars at our local Co-op, which is tiny, so you should be able to find those pretty easily.

Yeah, I pick them up at Sainsburys from time to time - I almost did today too for reading this thread!

We have a Cadbury outlet here in Doncaster.  I'm not allowed near it.
