PBS 7 days maintenance rule to change imminently
« on: December 05, 2008, 04:19:23 PM »
Topic should say it all. If you're one of the many refused solely because of the age of their maintenance document (and not, for example, other errors that made it not a specified document, e.g. it was an online statement not endorsed by the bank etc) than you should watch the UKBA website closely in the enxt few days.

We've been watching this one ever since they agreed to the change last August.  It has taken all the time since then to get the needed sign-offs on it.  Let's hope the guidance is clear!

Yes, Garry told us months ago that this was imminent, and we have been waiting for the announcement ever since.  It would be good to know how you have the inside track though.

With immediate effect PBS Tier 1 applicants may submit evidence of personal savings to meet the maintenance requirement that is dated no more than one calendar month prior to the date application.  Applications that have in the past been refused solely on the grounds that the accompanying evidence of maintenance funds was more than seven days old on the date of application will be reviewed.  Results of reviews will be notified to relevant applicants in due course.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, especially as I see it says Tier I, but does this apply to fiancee visas as well?  I never considered the age of my bank statements...I've included my most recent statement as well as a printout signed and stamped by the bank that I requested just a few days prior to making my application...I'm assuming this is enough.

Again, sorry for the stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure!

No, it is irrelevant to your application, and to anyone OTHER THAN tier 1 applicants.

Just want to say "Thank you Vinny and Tannerarms". I, for one, am directly affected by this change in requirements as my bank is out-of-state and takes about 1 calendar week (7 days) to get my statements to me.

As I'm applying during the Christmas-New Years holidays, those extra 'no-mail' days could have forced me to wait another month before submitting my application.

So thank you and please keep up posted.  You are loved! :-*

Actually, we only knew they were working on a policy revision, that it was delayed and it would hopefully be changed soon (months when I first inquired) and to operate within the 7 days maintenance rule until it was officially posted.

Now it's official. Yay!

Ah, now please don't rain on my parade, garry. If you can't trust HO's on words, then who?  :P

I'm terribly sorry.  The announcement is real enough, but the 'small print' (actually on another page) rather negates it.  At least to a degree.  Shenanagans.

 :(

Vinny, you're not out of the woods yet.

ILPA are going to call them on this tomorrow.

Eyes wide, peeps.  There's a ways to go yet on this one.
