Do I have everything we need?
« on: December 08, 2008, 06:16:07 PM »
Hi everyone,

My husband and I are about to send out our I-130/DCF packet out to the US Embassy in London and I want to make sure what I am sending is correct {and that I am not forgetting anything.}

I-130
G-325A x4 {2 for my husband, 2 for me}
Credit Card Payment form {for I-130}
Cover letters for I-130
2 passport photos {one each for my husband & I}
photocopy of husbands passport
photocopy of my FLR page in passport
photocopy of marriage certificate
photocopy of my birth certificate

DS 230 Part 1
Document Checklist {for DCF}
DS 2001 Notification of Readiness {for DCF}
I-864 {should I send a copy of this in and keep the original for the interview?}
Cover letter for DS 230

Shall I separate the 2 sets {I-130 info and DCF info} into 2 envelopes and put them into one big envelope?

And is there not a charge for DCF {I am only mailing in one payment form for I-130?}

We do have my husbands police check and vaccination forms ready too which.

Thank you for your help. We are eager to move back home ASAP and want to get this ball rolling fast.

You sound quite confused. Can I suggest that you take a look here and also at the US immigration links in my signature.

It will be up to the Embassy as to whether they will accept both the I-130 & the DS 230 simultaneously.

When we looked into this we where also told NOT to send in DS-230 as it would delay everything possibly also, and to wait till they sent the package out before sending it in.

Good luck we are on hold until things pick up and in the hope they may come up with some good health care cover.

Thanks Tam. Ive already seen the VisaJourney website and also the main links to the US Embassy.

We have sent the I-130 off and followed the exact instructions on the check list, sending nothing more, nothing less.

cover letter
I- 130 check list
I-130 application
G-325A x2 {1 for my husband, 1 for me}
credit card payment form
2 passport photos {one each for my husband & I- attached to G 325A, as requested}
photocopy of my passport {official page}
photocopy of my FLR page in passport
photocopy of marriage certificate

A few days later, I sent the DS 230 {since we do have all the documents needed.}

I will update our status here.

Best, Alisha

Just to check, also, that you have the same I-130 instructions as on the USCIS site which mention the need for documents which support your marriage? You can take a look at the .pdf file here for those.

I have read of others being tripped up by the Embassy site not having the latest I-130/instructions which request this.

Thank you Tam for posting those links.  I didn't have a clue where to begin when the time comes for my Mart & I to move to the states.  It's not anytime soon but I'm glad to have the information now.

Does anyone know the total fees for filing? I see that it's $355 for the I-130, but that isn't the only cost to get DH to the US is it? I'm definitely going to try the DCF route, so that after filing we can go before DH and find work/house. And unlike the UK Visa, DH will have 6 months to enter the US rather then 30 days is that correct?

Yes, the visa is valid for six months. As for further costs there is the medical, (pdf link) to pay for as well as the police certificate that needs to be gotten.

Thank you very much  ;D  Sounds like it's a lot cheaper at least then it was for us to come here!
