My MIL used to send my hubby to school with a fish paste and butter sandwich....ech!

He still talks about how horrible it was, when he bit into it and realized it was butter, not mayo!

Personally, I love butter and UK bacon, and this thread has my mouth watering! ;D  I don't really like sandiwches much at all (except meatball subs, which I love)...but boy does a thick bacon buttie sound good! And with chips too!  And maybe some cooked ground beef!

(Can you tell I'm pregnant?  Yesterday I drank a big glass of lemonade.  I hate lemonade! ;D)

It's going to be lobsters and icecream next, dear SAF (warmest congratulations, by the way! ;D), or coal, or soap and chips!  I've seen it all before! ;) ;)

Maybe you'll be pleased to know that the meatball subs at the Subways here are as good as the ones in the US... ;)

Oohh. in Flag my apt. is across the street from a Quiznos, so you can imagine it's a weekly visit (don't drive, so i'm sooo thankfully that it's nearby).  Anyone in the states see their commercials recently?  The bonkers puppets and bad singing?  Those are great  ;D

To be honest how much grosser is mayo on a sandwhich than butter?  Both are loaded with fat.  Or something like Velvetta?  Pure grease with an odd orange color not seen in nature.

Some folk who have replied on this thread are acting like butties/sandwiches are just the weirdest kind of foreign muck available!  Im thinking, it's no different from a burger.... or any other filling between 2 bits of bread or a bap.

I like butties... chip, bacon, or otherwise.  I'm also pretty fond of a crisp sandwich, if the bread is soft enough.

when I was at school crisp sandwiches were very popular but not sure if I could eat them now! my friend's Greek mother used to give us apple sandwiches and those were yummy!

i am vegetarian but have been known to buy that pretend bacon stuff to make a bacon buttie occasionally ... mmmmmmmmmmm.

Not trying to start an argument about butties (!!) just trying to understand... do you hate sandwiches as well?

We used to eat apple sandwiches as well, drizzled with Hidden Valley Ranch dressing!  (ask your hubby about Hidden Valley, unless he has already converted you!!)

I like sandwiches, but I DON'T like butter on sandwiches.  (Nor do I like butter on hamburger buns...weird!)  And the only buttie I won't eat is a chip buttie.  Just doesn't make sense to me!   :)
