You can always test the eggs before throwing them.

I'm in the US, so our eggs do need to be refrigerated.

Thanks for the tip about cooking the meat. I don't have work today (still too much damage around the area) and I can get on that!

Belita, you had no heat in subzero weather while your power was off.  Just how 'hot' did all this stuff really get?!  :)
Ring the bells that still can ring

There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Maybe I'm daring, or stupid, or both but I eat anything unless it is either foul smelling, or covered in mold (unless it's hard cheese in which case it gets cut off). I've never gotten food poisoning from my own food (have gotten it in a restaurant though).

I tend to think most food has a longer life than is indicated on the packaging.

LoL! I just worry about it not being good and getting sick. It did actually get warm in there. The stuff in the freezer defrosted most of the way. I'm mainly just not trusting anything dairy or with eggs. That just makes me nervous.

Some cheese. :) I'm not sure I'd brave unrefrigirated mozz. But one of my favorite cheeses, manchego, tastes so much better when it isn't fridged. But then again, it never stays around the house long enough to even get mouldy.  8)
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Oh, no, I wouldn't eat unrefrigerated mozzarella either. I'd forgotten about that one. But run-of-the-mill ordinary cheddar is fine out of the fridge - as long as it doesn't get too green!  :-X

Manchego is the BEST!  Think I need to add some to the grocery list.  Yum!
