Got my UK citizenship! Woo hoo!
« on: December 18, 2008, 11:29:49 AM »
The approval letter just came in the post today. Yippee! Based on all the reports of delays happening at the moment, I honestly didn't think I would hear anything until January at the earliest, especially with all the Christmas post at the moment. For those that are interested, I applied via the Nationality Checking Service with my local council on 2 Sept. My letter is dated 10 Dec. and I received it today (18 Dec.). A little over 3 months. Not bad.  ;D

Well, not on this side of the Pond anyway. Now I get to start on the US side of things for DH and our little one, who's due in the New Year. Still, it's a great feeling to know that my immigration journey is nearly complete.  :)

Are you moving back to the states?  Just wondering about what you were doing for your DH. I know your children can have dual nationality, but can he, or would he have to live there for ages first?  ???

Yes, baby will be dual. Have just arranged our appointment at the US embassy to get US birth certificate, passport, etc. sorted.

As for DH, yes we plan to move back to the US someday. Our goal is for the whole family to be dual citizens, which will involve a move back for at least 3 years. After all the money I've paid and the stress involved, I don't ever want any of us to have to bother with immigration red tape again.

Congrats! I'm jealous. :D

What a great Christmas present though, right?
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Thanx for putting your dates up. I applied a few weeks after you and I was wondering when I would hear.

Congrats!

Got my citizenship approval letter in the post this morning -- I filed Sept. 24th, so it only took 2 months 3 weeks. Too bad it's a Saturday and I can't call to schedule my ceremony! Hopefully I won't have to wait months for that.

Woohoo!

I've heard! The letter arrived before Xmas. Actually, I got a letter from Lambeth council saying congratulations and giving me my ceremony time. They said that I should have already heard from the Home Office. Still no letter from them, but I'm sure I will.

I applied end of Sept - so three months. Better than I thought.
