I'm going to start trawling the charity shops for books on clearing clutter, cleaning and exercise books and give them to her whilst saying, 'Her house was a fecking tip and she sorted it out,' or 'She used to weigh 50st now she's only 30.'

 :-\\\\

LOL! I think you should!!!  ;D

Okay, I thought of one more for this thread.  I didn't receive this gift, but I was complicit in giving it. :)

When I was about 10, my family and I were  on our way to dinner one Friday night, just before Christmas.  We were driving down the highway, and saw something scattered all over the road.  My dad stopped the car to get out and see what it was.

Evidently, someone lost a couple of boxes full of large, plastic cooking spoons.  Well, waste not, want not.  So my dad spent about half an hour gathering up as many of them as he could find and throwing them in the back of our car.

When we got home later that night, he brought them all in, and we sat around inspecting them, sorting out that ones that were still alright (little to no scuffing, etc.).  Then he washed them, bundled them up, had my mom tie them with ribbon, and gave them to his sisters-in-law for Christmas.

Tonight I opened a present from my MIL.  Not only is it the creepiest thing I've ever seen, but she gave me the exact same thing last year.

Can't wait to see what else is lurking under all that wrapping paper. :o

Oh my. If that were mine, it would be going straight into the trash.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  I can't believe (well, of course I can) that it's the exact same as last year!  Genius!  I am so posting photos tomorrow, by the way!

OK. So she saw that thing in a shop and liked it enough to buy it. In itself, that's ridiculous. But then she saw it again and bought it AGAIN!??!!?

No, No--a charity shop!  Believe me as horrible as it is there is *somebody* out there who will buy it from a charity shop.

Anyway--that sucks that you got it two years in a row!

I think sometime in the past five years, my mother decided I was Catholic (??!), and started buying me slightly Catholic-themed gag gifts.  One year, it was a Cafepress lunchbox with the Virgin Mary toast on it, while the year before that, it was a Mary de Guadalupe clock insert into a mirror; that 'mysteriously' vanished when I immigrated.

Still, at least that was sort of kitch and hilarious... much better than the aunt who kept getting me backpack purses on an annual basis. ><

Yeah.  No doubt somebody will buy it as a git for their daughter-in-law.  A bargain!

:D  Either that or just because it *is* so ugly it may have a certain kitsch appeal.  Maybe.  :-\\\\
