two visas at the same time??

Can one get a student visa and a working visa at the same time in the UK or is this not allowed?

No.  In the event there was a mistake, they would assign the most senior of whatever you had applied for and received.  The other one would be curtailed, so it's best to try and avoid the situation altogether.

The second visa always supercedes the first.
