Dare I mention Nutella in this thread?  Texture is similar to peanut butter, but is THOUSANDS times better! :D

I really don't like the PB here.  It's nasty!  I'll take Jif or Skippy any day! (Thank goodness for Costco)

Ew.  UK peanut butter is horribilus.  We don't like it at all in this house.

Regarding sweet/savoury, during World War 2, many Brits were "grossed out" by seeing visiting American soldiers spreading jam on steaks, although we do have gammon steak with pineapple and also turkey with cranberry sauce I suppose.

Ok, now that is disgusting. I would be grossed out by seeing someone put jam on a steak. [smiley=bleck.gif]

Back in my meat eating days, I used to love putting strawberry jam on sausage biscuits. The mix of sweet/savory was actually delicious! It's not the same with fake sausage unfortunately.

Probably the same people who would eat Marmite! ;)

I actually much prefer peanut butter here - the US stuff has way too much sugar (and transfats!) added, and don't get me started on the plastic texture!  :-X

Give me a jar of peanuts and salt and a dash of sugar ground up, with nothing else added, please.

And I was actually talking about marmite (juuuust the thinnest layer) and peanut butter - together - on toast. MmMm! I'm pretty sure I saw someone on this forum talking about it, and as it combines two of my favourite toasty treats, I decided to give it a go. It's absolutely lovely!

My old Scandinavian flatmates got me hooked on jam and strong cheese on toast. Strawberry jam and gouda is delicious!
Ok, so I'm smug.

That's my absolute favorite! I buy an orange and carrot jam in Sweden and have that with a nutty cheese, like Jarlsberg.

Cheese and jam is a lovely combination! Put a camembert in the microwave for a bit, then smear some apricot preserves on top ..... mmmmmmm!  ;D

Same here. My DH also said that PB was gross, and I couldn't understand why, until I actually tasted UK peanut butter.
