Also I'm wondering how much that much yarn is going to cost!  :o

You can just use a basic acrylic DK which is like £1-2 per 100g.  It's probably the only type of yarn which will have the color selection you'd need as well.

I'm feeling like a right numpty: I just figured out that I've been wrapping the yarn the wrong direction when purling. :-[

I'm going to have to rip out the bag half I have almost finished, because if I purl the "right" way it looks different, and I don't want to reinforce bad habits. :P :P :P

On the bright side, the mistake has been causing my purls to be impossibly tight. I will be a much happier knitter now! :)

That's too bad Elynor, but at least you found out now, instead of years down the line!

Hope it works out okay! :)

Just found out that my BF from back home is preggers.  They don't know the sex yet and haven't chosen colors so I'm making a cotton baby bib which is going to have a lion face on it when I'm finished.  And baby wash cloths.

I kind of think we need to resurrect this thread. What do you all think?
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Sure :) I'm working on an afghan, using up assorted colors of homespun yarn.

I'm making a scarf for a friend and am about half way through it. Then a scarf to ship to my mom for Christmas. I don't think I've ever made her one.

Which yarn is that? It's a beautiful color palette :)

It's Cygnet Boho Spirit in Folk. 100% acrylic and it's gorgeous.

Do you find it weird that Brits call them colour ways?

I just dug out my homespun blanket when the weather turned!  It's perfect for that! :)

I must admit I already have 2, one is on the bed and the other is a one person afghan on the couch. So now when this is done we can both be warm on the couch!

I've tried knitting before but gave up in frustration. I wish I could make myself try it again. That scarf is gorgeous!

I’m the same, I would love to but I know it’s just not in me
