I'm a 'large' girl, and I think women learn pretty early on that big boobs on display will bring attention. Personally, I don't like that kind of attention from strangers, so I try to keep the girls under wraps. I just think that any normal, red-blooded male will look if there's a good view, and it's up to the lady to decide if she wants the attention or not. I suppose that if a culture accepts it as normal then people will become de-sensitized to it over time.
We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

I kind of expected more boobs, actually, from all I had ever heard about Europe.... at least you aren't moving to Amsterdam, then "Lucy, you would have loads of 'splaining to do!"   ;D

Britain is a lot more conservative than some other European countries, for sure.  I remember being in Annecy with Ross and my parents on Easter Sunday one year.  It was 8:30am, and on one channel was a soft porn film.  I turned the channel over, and there was an advert for baby formula; the young woman was naked from the waist up, beaming, and holding a baby.  The reason for the nudity was that they were trying to imply that the formula was just as good as breastmilk.  All I could think of as I watched, somewhat mesmerized, was "....those are clearly not the breasts of a nursing mother".   ;)
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

I remember Italy having a strip tease show every night at 10 when I lived there. It was called Chin Chin. I think it might have been a game show of some kind, but since I didn't speak Italian, all I remember are the boobies.

Remember the fuss in the US when one of Janet Jackson's puppies poked its nose out? In the Uk clips showing things like that get shown on those video clip shows like "You've Been Framed".

When i first moved here, my then-boyfriend 'read' the Sunday Sport and had a stack of Fiesta magazines in the flat, so i was de-sensitised very early on.  I don't really remember what my reaction was... not sure i even had one!   I was very young and like a sponge, just absorbing the culture around me.

LOL.  First thing I was going to say when I saw this thread was "don't buy the Sunday Sport!"  I just kind of laugh at it, but then my grandpa used to buy News of the World in the US (Batboy found in cave...), with their page 5 girls...   ::) :-\\\\

If you want your own eye-candy you should buy the June or July issue of Cosmopolitain when they do their male centerfolds - if they still do it, its been quite a few years since I've bought an issue of UK Cosmo...

Slightly off topic, but have you tried Bravissimo?  They sell tops that cater to women with larger breasts.  I've never tried them, but their bras are fab.

Thanks.  I have no problems finding tops which fit and (I think) look good, but I have no intention of hiding my breasts as if I am ashamed of them!  That doesn't necessarily mean I flaunt them but I don't want to minimise.

I like Bravissimo bras too.

Heat has "Torso of the Week" in every issue.  ;D

God, me too! Wish they weren't so damn expensive though but their service is so great. They are about the only place actually that sells a large selection on bras in my size that are NOT minimizers of some kind.

Well, before the stores were a bit more enlightened with their sizing, if you were a busty gal, you couldn't get a buttondown shirt that closed over the boobies and yet wasn't big enough elsewhere to fit three people. There was a similar problems with dresses, suit jackets, coats, etc. So to make this stuff fit, you needed a minimizer bra which..umm..redistributed your assets into your armpits and down towards you stomach. Not pretty! I have several still..they are quite hideous. But at least it made purchasing work clothes a bit less of a nightmare.

I hardly ever need them now cause I dunno if it's a UK thing or generally so, but the availability of clothes for DD+ cups is much much better.

I don't find buttondown shirts to be at all flattering on a busty gal, so it's never been an issue with me. I like my big boobies and, if anything, I try to maximize them!  ;D

If I wear loose tops I still look like I have big boobs, I just look like I am wearing a tent as well!  If anything, I think it looks less professional than a top which outlines my shape.

Vicky

That's the difference between the British attitude and the American attitude.

In America, if you wear a top that outlines your shape, and you have big boobs, people assume that you are using your sexuality to get what you want and you don't have any brains or talent. If you wear a loose top, you might look fat, but people will assume that you are more intelligent. I realise that if your boobs are large enough, it's impossible to completely to hide them - the idea is that at least you are trying to hide them.

The majority of the tops that I've purchased in the UK have elastane/spandex in them and fit tightly over my boobs (big-boobed gal here, as well.) Not because I specifically chose them, but because that is what is available. And they are from shops like Principles and Next, not exactly known for selling sexy attire.  They are considered to be boring, everyday clothing.

If I wore these tops in the US, I would get looks and hear whispers behing my back.

Recently, when I was in the US, my sister and I were talking about bras and she said that the purpose of a bra is to hold your boobs in and keep them from jiggling. Very different from the attitude that I've encountered in the UK, which is that the purpose of a bra is to show off your upper body by lifting the girls up and out.
