Weight Loss Goals for 2009
« on: January 05, 2009, 04:14:17 PM »
OK, who among us are post-holiday dieters?

What will your method be, what is your ultimate goal, and when do you hope to achieve it?  Let's post progress, tips, and other info here to help keep each other motivated!

My goal:  10 lbs loss in 4 months, with hopefully an additional 10 to follow by the end of the year.

My method:  Eating more fruit and veg, avoiding sweets and fatty or fried foods during the week, splurging a little on weekends.  Walking in the evenings, 4 times per week.

I'm also looking into keeping an online diet journal to see what I am consuming and planning to drink more water and less alcohol.

What about you?

I'd like to lose 15lbs by the end of the year but mostly maintain the loss of the previous year.

I'm sticking with what I've been doing so far which seems to be working for me, albeit very very slowly which means tons of fruit and veg and less of everything else.

I have been very lax on any kind of physical activity which means I am in absolutely horrible shape so 20 min of some kind of exercise three times a week.

I'd love to lose the extra 4 stone that I gained with my pregnancy last year (7 months on and still haven't been able to shift any of it...haven't really tried tho) and the 1 stone I didn't manage to lose the last time I tried (managed to lose the 4 though but that was before the baby!)

To tone and strengthen after losing the weight...trying to keep it off and just stay healthy.  I plan to do yoga and pilates once a week, walking for half an hour to an hour briskly about 3 days a week and fitball crunches :)

Hopefully I can stick to that!

Yikes, I need to drop a stone and a half by June/July, or look as if I have!

I'm going to do 30 minutes of excercise 5 days a week, cut out the sweet foods and drink more water, less coffee and relegate wine to the weekend.

I find South Beach diet recipes (phase 2) work well for me, as long as I don't consider myself to be on a "diet". If I think in terms of nurturing myself and treating my body to good things I can really stick with it. Anybody else have good luck with South Beach style eating? The only thing I can't bear is the breakfasts, I don't really like eggs that much, ugh.

Not so much a specific goal as I just want to fit into my old clothes again! :(  I never realised how good it was to be a size 10/12 until I jumped to a 14/16.

Lose my pregnancy weight, plus another 15 pounds, to get down to my goal of 150lbs.  Will cut down on portion sizes, be reasonable with treats, and try and get walking (although, hoping 6 months of breasfeeding will help).
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Believe me, it will! I cut my calorie intake to 2000 when DS was about 2 months old and lost all of the baby weight plus in two months. Honestly, if I could figure out a way to breast feed without having a baby, I'd do it now!  :P

I'm sorry, I hope it's not an indelicate question, but did calorie cuts have any impact on your milk production? I apologize that the question makes you sound like a dairy, but I couldn't figure out a better way of asking.  :-[

lol, sometimes I felt like a cow, I can assure you. :P

It didn't seem to affect my production at all, I produced a ridiculous amount of milk, (sorry to the squeamish) so much so that DS gained so much weight during the same period that my wrists didn't have time to adjust; I strained my wrists and had to wear ridiculous wrist braces to pick him up. He was 18 lbs at 4 months.

Of course, 2000 calories per day is not exactly a major restriction of calories, I had room for the occasional twix and began nearly every day with a bagel and cream cheese.

Heh a friend of mine also complained about producing tons of milk. She eventually ended up donating some of it for use by preemies. Ended up getting a cute little certificate afterwords.

I wish I could've donated some of my extra milk, but we're nowhere near the donation banks.   :(

I lost my pregnancy weight, I just need to shift the weight I have struggled with pre-baby.

I'd like to lose 3 1/2 - 4 stones.  No set time limit, but DH's cousin is getting married at the beginning of April, so I'd like to shift a stone at least by then, so I can treat myself to something nice!

As of tomorrow morning I'm giving the local Rosemary Conley group a go - its a weigh in, diet & workout class all in one!  Salsacise!  Currently our village Sure Start centre are doing Yoga classes for the next 6 weeks with free creche for DD, so I'm giving it a go.  Since I've had a massive Avon route dropped on me (by a friend) I've been out walking a lot more and that helps with motivation to get out of the house - especially in this weather!  Lets just hope I can keep up the motivation!

That's great.... wish I lived closer to you so I could do it with you.  I am debating joining the local gym, but calling it a gym is to use the word very loosely.   :P  There are loads of exercise classes and all sorts in Alnwick, but since I don't drive yet, it would be a hassle to have DH drop me and pick me up several times each week.   :(  I think there is a spinning class down the street, anyone ever tried one of those?  Not sure how good it would be, but I suppose better than the near nothing I am doing at the moment!   :P

I want to lose 20 pounds this year.  I lost 25 pounds between Aug 2007 and April 2008.  I gained 10 pounds back.  So, I am determined to lose the weight and finally quit dieting.
