The Deep Freeze!
« on: January 08, 2009, 11:53:32 AM »
What is with this crazy, unusually cold weather we've been having over here?!!!  I cannot deal.  :(  I was back in Kansas toward the end of December for a funeral, and while DH and I were there - the temps were nearing 60 degrees F, which was a real blessing considering we were there for a funeral.  Then I got back here, and it's feckin' FREEZING!  Seemed like it should have been the other way around, although I know it's not normally 60 degrees F here in the wintertime, I'd sooner have expected these kind of freezing temps in Kansas this time of year than here.  And on the news last night, they had stories of frozen, broken water pipes somewhere in Wales, etc.  WTF?!

 ???

Yeah, the sub-zero temps are making big news here....I don't mind it too much (Mike's been making a fire every night  :)), but if it's gonna be this cold I want some real snow action!

Nooo!  Well the forecast says it's supposed to be milder (more like normal) by the weekend.  Fingers crossed!  [smiley=elf.gif]

I'm not really finding it that much colder than usual, last year was mild so I guess it seems colder compared to that.

But then I do live in the North of Scotland I guess i'm more used to it than you Southern softies.   ;) ;D

It was so cold the other night TIM was cold! He's never cold and constantly makes fun of me for being cold and he was on the sofa wrapped in a blanket with both a fire in the fireplace and the halogen heater going!

LOL - Jon does the same to me.

I've been going to sleep with a hot water bottle for the last 3 weeks. It's the only way I've been able to sleep.

i've not been watching the news lately, so didn't even know there was a 'deep freeze' anywhere.  It's certainly no colder than normal here...

It's been really cold - much more than 'normal' down here!  :o  Guess I'd better brace myself for the end of Feb up there!

We have a bedwarmer that has a "pre-heat" setting, so if you turn it on about a half hour before you want to go to bed, you have a nice toasty bed to get into!

Heh. Apparently two nights ago was the coldest it's been since 1989 or something.  At least, in Lincoln.  I was looking at the -4c and whimpering.

It can get too cold to actually snow.   :-\\\\  I always feel if it is going to snow it should be a mega-storm so everybody gets to stay home.
