What's the latest report from Leeds and vicinity?  DH is supposed to head back up there for an appointment tomorrow in Otley (Wharfedale Hospital).  He doesn't drive but maybe that's an advantage as long as the buses are running?

It's not been anything like they were predicting in Leeds. Sunny and clear all day. The main roads are fine but the side roads may be slush or frozen slush on them.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

The snow is chucking it down here.  We are all at work thinking "how on earth are we going to get home"  :-\\\\

How weird. The sun is gone, but it's certainly not snowing here.

Ah, thanks.  Nothing like a first-hand on the spot report!

Thanks for sharing all the snow pics, everyone! It does look really beautiful ... but, in my opinion, much nicer on a computer screen than in person. I'm so glad to live in the southwest - we got a tiny bit of snow overnight here, but it's nearly all melted already. After living in western Canada and then New England, I am way beyond getting any pleasure from snow. Ugh.

Yeah something els ethat's not fun about this -- accidents and deaths. This is dangerous weather, at the very least people can't get to work and some self employed people will find that a big problem. Meals on wheels can't get to the elderly. The elderly themsleves are trapped in their homes under these conditions.

Everyone on this thread is trivializing snow conditions. Ooh, fun, pretty, yay, more, more! Please grow up and realize it creates problems too.

I don't think anyone's trivialising the snow conditions. They're just in wonderment. To be fair, nearly every "neat" event in life has a sad side:  for every beautiful wedding, there's probably a girl or guy who, sadly, has to close their hope chess on ever marrying that bride or groom.  For every birth of a beautiful baby, some doctor may have had to get up in the middle of the night or leave his/her spouse sitting alone on "date night" to attend; or some nurse put in overtime when s/he could have really used a day off. For every rainfall that dispels a drought, somebody got their dress and hair ruined on the way to a job interview.

Yes, heavy snow can be a dangerous and inconvenient condition; no one's denying that. But it's also beautiful. And that's what most folk in this thread are rejoicing in.

Has it really all melted over there? Hubby currently visiting family around St Austell and said he couldn't come home today as scheduled cause the roads weren't driveable.

Hrmph.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Almost all our snow here in Bristol is gone now :(. We had about 2 or 3 inches yesterday which was still on the ground this morning, but then we had snow/sleet this afternoon/evening and now it's nearly all melted and gone.

I was really hoping for more so I could stay home and enjoy it today.  Instead I got to experience the feeling of ALMOST falling all the way across town.  :P
...the whole damn thing will turn
and return redefined, rearranged, rearranged...
