Chucking down with nasty rain here... got soaked on my way to work. If I lived in a slightly higher elevation ,it would have been all snow.  But we're well protected by the hills surrounding us and its only rain...   Oh well!!!

Has it really all melted over there? Hubby currently visiting family around St Austell and said he couldn't come home today as scheduled cause the roads weren't driveable.

Hrmph.

I'm currently visiting family and friends in Pembrokeshire, so I'm not in Cornwall. But my bf says Penzance is clear. Maybe St Austell is just that bit further northeast?

Chili's first experience of snow  :D

Aw, that reminds me of one of our cats we had when I was young and her first experience of the snow.  We had a small, raised concrete patio just outside our back door with steps down to the grass, and she had gotten used to just leaping down the step from the door onto the concrete and running across it to the lawn.   She must have been so used to it that she barely even looked before leaping down from the doorstep.

She did that one morning when it had been snowing overnight, sank right up to her shoulders in the snow, and just froze there with a "What the heck is this?!" kind of look on her face.

Its glorious sunshine here today...snows begining to melt into a horrid dirty slush  >:(

I think the funniest part for me was watching her swish away the snow with her paw until she saw the grass underneath to put her foot down..she knew she was "safe" then...bless animals  ;)

Awww, love the kitties!  Maxwell is strictly a housecat and not allowed outside (yeah, I know, poor guy) but watches us diligently when we go out to shovel -- a lot of that lately.  Last time I picked him up and plonked his paws in the snow briefly.  He looked bemused.

We've been a bit foggy and grey all day, but flakes for tomorrow and sleet for Friday.  Blech!

Tim left for work around 5, and it wasn't snowing (or he'd have come back in and told me).  I woke up at 8 and there's already 2 inches on the ground....on a day when I need to walk 3/4 mile down to the co-op (and back).  Grr.

And, tomorrow we're supposed to leave to go to Northumbria for the weekend, so this stuff better stop....I really don't want us to have to forfeit the £260 we paid for a hotel!

4 inches or so overnight in Wilts and it's still coming down, most schools have closed. One of the constant topics of the news reports is a grit shortage with the local councils across the UK.

I'm over it. The novelty has worn off. I took my laptop and a bunch of reading home with me, but I actually hate working at home - I'm productive but bored. We had maybe 2 or 3 inches when I woke up but now it's sleeting a bit and starting to melt. The real problem is the ice - the ice just won't go away....  >:(

Looking at the BBC website it looks like it's forecast for "heavy snow" again on Monday!!  ::)

Walked to work in about 3 inches this morning. It was a beautiful walk in.
The A9 is shut in the mountains, they're pretty impassible. But they get tons of snow. Some folks who live in the hills will have some issues getting in, but otherwise, pretty much not a big deal.
Everyone is a bit amused at the news coverage of all the snow down south... but at least reporting snow takes away from the gloom of the recession!
