B&Q Bathrooms
« on: January 12, 2009, 07:59:39 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has any experience using B&Q for bathroom/kitchen installation? They have a fantastic deal on bathrooms now and we are in need of a new bathroom. Its 50% off bathrooms AND installations, so really expensive suites are really cheap. We have an appointment with a designer in about 2 weeks, but I was wondering if anyone else has had them do a bathroom or kitchen for them.

I have had one rave from a friend who has had them in for a kitchen, but I was looking for a bathroom opinion. Thanks!

DH's parents had their bathroom done by B&Q a few years back and they were really happy with it.  It's still in great shape and looks brand new!

We got a quote from them but they turned out to be a lot more expensive than we had anticipated and wound up going with a private contractor.  Definitely get other quotes because you never know, you might be able to get it even cheaper.

I'm afraid I don't know about B&Q Bathrooms but from a cost perspective be sure to shop around.  When we had ours done a few years back we had a quote for £8K and a quote for £4.5K for virtually the same installation and units.  We went with the cheaper one (partly because we had the builder do some stuff for us previously and we trusted him) but the £8K company was having a laugh!  50% off sounds great although there may be other places doing similar deals in this credit crunch age!

Check out the stability of the company first...as far as I was aware B&Q are not doing that great and with retailers going pop all over the place at the moment and people not getting their goods..I think I would feel safer buying the stuff myself and getting a local plumber etc to install it ..... rather than rely on the Retailers fitters.

Wouldn't you have recourse if you charged on your visa card?

Yes, as long as you use a credit card and not a debit card.  Some debits might cover you, but all cc do.

We are having a new kitchen fitted by B&Q in Feb, so far the service seems good but I'll get back to you.
