I almost had dinner with Shaun Cassidy. Almost.

I've met Bono too - he was teeny-tiny, but I don't recall him smelling of anything other than stinky man-sweat.

I had to use subterfuge, but I met Bruce Springsteen.

I sat next but one to John Wayne at a football game. Before he died.

I've sat on GG Allin's lap. Before he died.

Those are all VERY cool.  Well, save for the last one.  That just makes me want to bathe in Lysol. :-X

My favorite "What The Hell Were You Thinking?!?" story was when my husband ran lights for the west coast production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile.  Steve Martin was very involved with getting the show up and running, although DH had very little contact with him during preproduction.  However, he (Steve Martin) invited the entire cast and crew to his home in Santa Barbara for Thanksgiving.  The home where he kept most of his art collection.  The home where he promised to do a "bit of banjo" after dinner.  The home where several of his celebrity friends were joining him for Thanksgiving.

AND MY IDIOTIC HUSBAND CHOSE NOT TO GO.

He still hasn't lived that one down!

Whoa! I never would've guessed. I'm intrigued!  ;D

I can't remember if I mentioned this before, so apologies if I have.

My friend and I stalked Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon (back when they were dating in the mid-80s) at a mall.  Hiding amongst clothes on racks, ducking behind columns - we thought we were SO sneaky.  At one point we were afraid they were on to us, so we pretended to look into the window of a Tinder Box to throw them off.  Once we were sure they walked by, I took a step back and.... walked right into him!  It was then that I knew my future as a spy was over. ;D

Eeeeee!!! I love this one!  ;D

I met several punk bands. I had breakfast at a diner with Joe Queer of The Queers, and I had some vegan snacks with Propaghandi in their van.  :) Not that anyone has probably ever heard of any of these people... LOL.

I have! I have!  My friend was actually the president of one of the indie record labels that released some of The Queers' albums!

chary! please elaborate on the bruce springsteen story?  i adore him!  my dad met him in the 80s in north carolina when bruce came into a bar after playing a concert in my hometown.  my dad and bruce played pool, bruce bought him a beer, and then bruce got on stage with the house band and played a set of cover songs while everyone danced on the tables!

Sat next to Fred from the B-52 at a diner in San Francisco

I was (and still am) friends with some guys in a local southern New England punk band who used to play at a Providence club regularly. My friend and I always hung out in the band room. And once, GG Allin was playing there (I think he was banned in Massachusetts, which is why he came to play in RI). My friends were opening for him. There was a photographer there taking pics for his new album cover. My friend and I sat on his lap and posed for what was going to be the back cover shot of the album - but either the album never got made, or our pic never made it on.  :-\\\\

It's not my proudest moment. I went to a concert and then a friend and I just lingered afterwards because it looked like some other people were. There were about a dozen of them and they looked as if they belonged, so we assumed they'd won some radio competition or something and perhaps we could slide in undetected. We waited and waited and waited, and Bruce came out with a glass of whisky and chatted with all of us. We all shook hands and talked about which songs we'd liked. He was really friendly. Then some woman with a walkie-talkie came over and asked us what we were doing there. Apparently, they were all Vietnam vets. Ooops. Bruce actually laughed as we were being escorted away.

I have heard of them too!!!!

Jewlz, do you know Street Dogs?  Lead singer Mike used to be lead singer for Dropkick Murphys when they were good??? I've met him twice... actually last time I saw him he remembered me....and now he likes to think he arranged my marriage (I first saw my husband wearing a Street Dogs t-shirt and I instantly knew I had to talk to him).

Such funny stories!  :D

I met Mick Jones once too when he was in BAD.  My friend talked to him after they played but I was shy and couldn't think of anything to say so I just mumbled something like "Good show" and sounded like an idiot.  :-[

I loooooooove The Queers and Propaghandi!  That rules!

I'm like the walking embodiment of the 6 degrees of separation.  My ex's best friend is the drummer of a band who opened for Bruce Springsteen this summer.  Two of my best friends are professional merch guys who deal with all the t-shirts and what-have-you at concerts. Between the 2 of them they have toured with Radiohead, Brian Wilson, Bat For Lashes, Lamb of God, Metallica, Ice Cube, Josh Radon, and the list goes on.  Have they ever invited me to meet any of these people? No!

Although, one of them had me help him sell t-shirts at a Naked Brothers Band concert so I guess that's my brush with Nickelodeon fame?
