Awesome, this thread's alive again. Here's what I just posted in the July 4th thread in case it's of interest:

One of our next-door neighbors (not on this website as far as I know) happens to be American, so we're having a joint BBQ in our adjacent backyards. All are welcome! It's in Bearwood, which is technically part of Smethwick but for all intents and purpose is in Birmingham and not really that far from the city centre. If you're interested, PM me for details and transportation ideas...

That's pretty cool of them. I have never done anything for Thanksgiving over here, which is lame. I've got a can of Libby's ready for this year, though.

I'm on that side of Birmingham, so might be able to make it if a Wolverhampton-area meet-up is on the cards...

Ugh, so many yanks in Wolverhampton---but i digress :-D

I'm down in London for the 4th, we're going to check out the dems abroad picnic £7.50 per person and under 6s are free, that's not too bad for London.

I'm always keen to meet up some fellow expats though--mind you some of you I already know or are meeting soon--but you get the idea anyway :)

I'm going to jump back in since I started this thread. My little guy is now 6 months old and I have some serious cabin fever from not getting out of the house. To top it off, I've worn out my welcome to drive on my US license and can't yet afford to get my UK one yet. Luckily I'm less than a mile from the train station and can easily get to B'ham New/Moor Street station.

We moved from Brierley Hill in April and now we live in the Sandwell area (Rowley Regis)...B65 postcode. I'd love to get together and meet some people before my maternity is up in August -- but something easy that I could bring my son with me since he's not in nursery.

What kind of place would you suggest? It would be great if we could try to name a time and place and see who shows up, but I don't know what type of thing is best for including kids....

Me neither...outside of getting together in a pub or something on an afternoon? Or a park or something?

Hi! I live in Wolverhampton as well. I have been here almost 2.5 years and have made British friends, but I would love to meet up with some fellow Americans!! I work during the week so could only meet up in the evenings or weekends. If anyone plans anything, I would live to tag along!!
