Why are there diamonds with ? marks in them in random posts??

Yeah, that did it...  Like I said, I suspect the encoding between the database and PHP/Apache is goofey...

When I quote, the text is fine, but I could still see the diamond in kitsonk's post. Vicky's was fine.

Its come back for me - It seems to be in sentences where I have used a smiley..

I'm still seeing little empty boxes in some people's posts in place of the £ sign.

But in this post, my £ sign seems to be OK.

 

I am still getting them in my posts if I edit that post (at the end of sentences).  They are still appearing in others' posts as well.

3 'e's with acute accents... Fine typing 'em in, fine in preview, FF over FD boxes after posting.

That is strange.  The GPB sign worked in my post, but not when I was quoted!

That is so strange!  My £££ signs didn't work in a post 10 minutes ago, and they do seem to now in this thread!! 

I wonder if it has to do with the quick reply vs full reply. We'll try to get to the bottom of it on Sunday during maintenance.

Please let me know if there are still issues with this.
