Changing User Name
« on: January 20, 2009, 07:40:24 PM »
I am thinking of changing my username on the forum and was wondering if there was a way of doing so that would denote my earlier posts or would I just start from "scratch?"  When I registered on the site I wasn't married, and my current username is under my maiden name.  I wanted to change it to a name that signifies my relationship to my husband, who is also a member.

You can change your displayname in your profile, but if you like I can change your login username for you. It will reset your password and send a new one in your email so be sure your email address in your profile is correct.

Leah, how do you change it on your profile?

If I changed my display name, would anyone still see me as being AnnaOnTheMoon at all?

I think it's only on quotes from when you were AnnaOnTheMoon and you'll still be AnnaOnTheMoon when you log in. I used to be Scarlett516 and I never see it anywhere except for those circumstances.

Hmm. But there wouldn't be anything leading from AnnaOnTheMoon to the new display name is what I was trying to figure out.

Long story short - sh*t is hitting the fan on another comm I'm part of and Idon't want the sh*t spilling over here just because they can see AnnaOnTheMoon as a member and start harassing me here.

Hmmm...I changed my display name to Pushkin and I don't see any pointers from the last name.  But possibly somewhere in quotations my old name is there...but probably not because people called me Pushkin with my old name too.

If someone looked at your previous posts from your profile, they could probably find some quotes with your original/old user name there.  In fact, I just did a quick look, and there are several instances where people refer to you by your old name (the first part).
