Retirement Savings....
« on: June 09, 2004, 06:51:12 PM »
All right expats, need some help.  So i'm leaving my company to move (i think) and i'll be getting a job uk side.  Now i'm rolling over my exsisting 401K into an IRA over here.  Right.  Now, what the heck do i do about saving retirement money whilst in the UK?  Someone said to contribute to an IRA i have to be earning US income, which i won't.  And i can't go 3 years without savings toward it.  I'm looking in HSBC's international investing options and thought i'd ask you.

We're planning on moving back to the states 2-3 years after i move there but i thought, if anyone knew of what i could do, you all would knowQ!

Maybe Marlespo can move this over to the Tax Thread for Helen to see, she's the resident expert on this kinda thing and can no doubt steer you in the right direction.
