Do you go on other forums?

A friend recommended another topical forum for me and I went and lurked for a bit and I couldn't get myself to register, it's a bit intimidating going into a new forum. I've been here so long, it just feels like I've always been here!

So who isn't bothered about getting into the fray and who is like me and will just continue to lurk?

I was on ivillage some, but it really annoyed me after a while. There was just alot of rudeness and I hated all the tickers and signatures  in people's profiles. Some people would have so many that things that their one line post would take up an entire page.

And some of the tickers are ridiculous - like a pic of ovaries telling me exactly what phase of her cycle that poster was on and great detail about what happens during that phase. TMI in my opinion!

I post in some of the Library Thing forums and have actually made quite a few friends there - one real life acquaintance, too. But I know what you mean about feeling like I've always been here. I'm definitely not as active on LT and don't feel so much a part of a community there, although it is a great bunch of people.

I'm a semi-regular on one other forum, and I'm all over the place on livejournal.  And of course there's UKY.  That's pretty much it for me, though.
Now a triple citizen!

I've been doing the internet since circa 1986 and it was still the DARPAnet in spots. I've been a member of a gajillionty-zillion forums.

Yeap, I remember our huge (3 speed??) modem on our commordore vic 20 computer...  'Course I was only like 5, but that's alright, I still remember my dad playing with it.  Then we heard of this fancy thing called "Prodigy" in like 1989...  and it all went downhill from there  ;)

I've only been doing the forum / internet thing since 2002.  I've joined forums on the basis of my interests at the time, but even if the interests stay strong, I get bored with the forums themselves.

Currently I'm on a few harp related forums, but not super-active.  I'm a member of LiveJournal, but don't keep a page for myself, just check a friend's page there.

Being active on UK-Y is important to me because I need to stay up on all of the quickly changing stuff that's going on with visas, citizenship, etc and because I really like a lot of the people who post on here and have now met a few in person as well.
Met husband-to-be in Ireland July 2006
Married October 2007
Became a British citizen 21 July 2011
Separated from husband August 2014
Off on an Irish adventure October 2014

I've been on a ton of forums before this one (and since).  This forum was a bit intimidating for me to post on at first, and I am not sure why.  I kept at because I felt it was such an important forum to be involved with/support.

I sign up onto other forums, only post a few times then disappear.  I'm predominantly here on UKY.

I am a very active poster on another forum which is based where I am from, I love it, I love the people, I love the support. When bad things happen to people on these site they really pull together and do everything they can to help, they hold fundraisers for people, and they are a really generous gang.  And the best thing is that they supply me with playdates when I go home to NY to visit my family!!!

I'm registered on a couple - Babywhisperer is one I used for a bit in particular. But I spend too much time online as it is. UKY is enough! :)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
