I think I read the Polish economy is actually doing pretty well so, yes, many of the Poles are going home where things are better.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Maybe the British should go there?  8)

I hear the pickles and pierogies are fab!
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

- from Anthem, by Leonard Cohen (b 1934)

Well I guess us unemployed Americans in the UK could get jobs then.

lol! Could you imagine! I have always taken my hats off to the Polish when coming here...their English is usually pretty good.  Far better than my Polish would be over there :P

I could however have a massive house built.  Its the equivalent of £2ph for a Polish bricklayer.

Even though it is irregular, English is much easier than other languages.  No worries about gender, not a lot of tenses.  Polish is probably hella hard.

Oooh Poland is a beautiful country.  It reminds me of Massachusetts, actually.  Nice and hot in the summer and freezing in the winter.  Beautiful countryside. Krakow is an amazing city and Warsaw is very metro.  Public transport is great too.

They have great beer, sauerkraut on everything, great sausages, wonderful pickles, and the best pierogies- be they boiled or baked or everything in between!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I absolutely loved it too when I was there. Warsaw was awesome! We were even seriously thinking of living there for a bit at one point. Y'all should do too. Then the Polish Daily Mail-equivalent can complain about British and Americans stealing Polish jobs for a change. ;)

Seriously, I don't think I ever came back raving about a country after a visit like I did after Poland.

And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Boy this thread changed subjects so fast I got confused.  ;D

You're posting on a board of immigrants to ask if immigrants are overrunning the UK?

*laughing*

What's a pierogie? (pardon the ignorance) I have heard of them, but never seen/had one. Not much Polish influence here in GA.
