Skins... the new series
« on: January 30, 2009, 01:59:32 PM »
Anyone else having trouble finding these kids sympathetic at all.  I don't care how much sex and drugs real teenagers do - these characters seem way too one dimensional to be real.

Cook is an ass.  I don't care what his problems are.  He needs a brisk kicking.

Effie is a b!tch and a total slag.  I can't think of her as 'strong young woman' because everything she does stems from manipulation and cruelty .

The only one I like at all is Pandora.

I'll keep watching for guest performances (YAY for Father Dugal and Gareth Keenan) and because it's Bristol, but otherwise I'm not impressed.

Thoughts?

I LOVED the first version. LOVED LOVED LOVED. I miss Chris and Sid and Cassie and............ it's definitely not the same. I have to say I like the new tall kid (who likes that girl). Effy is a total slag. Blech. Seriously, what school lets students walk around without any pants (trousers) on??? Pandora is an idiot! I can't stand her and was sad to see her reappear! One of the more comical characters is that new secretary or whatever her job title is who keeps going crazy bc of the kids.

I haven't seen last night's episode (it's still on my friend's sky+ which I'll watch tonight with slingbox!) but I'm hoping that it's just because they are new and the characters will grow on us. The idea of bringing a couple of minor characters into this series was smart. But I think they chose the wrong ones.

I really miss Sid. :(

Completely new cast so I decided not to bother.

Shameless on the other hand - watched first episode last night and as good as ever!

Dang! Forgot about the new Shameless. I need to get my friend to record that one, too!
