Anyone scheduled to fly to or from LHR in the next few days?
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:31:06 PM »
Yes, I'm a worrier.. but I am wondering what those of you in the UK may being told re: flights you have scheduled in the upcoming days?  Are people being urged to change travel plans?

BF is supposed to be flying from Heathrow to the US on Thursday and, of couse, I am concerned about his flight being cancelled.  Is it true that long haul flights are often given precedence over short haul fights? (or is that wishful thinking on my part??)

I am flying out on Saturday.  I hope!  I guess it all depends on the weather.  They are saying there is more snow to come...could be in the next day or so, or not until Friday.  The weatherman was really hedging his bets with his forecast.

As to what type of flight gets priority, I can't say with absolute authority.  But, my mother was caught up in a bomb scare at LHR a couple of years ago.  All the flight were delayed for several hours.  Once the terminal was cleared, the short haul flights got cancelled and the long haul flights went out.

I think the snow hazard is now over so you'll be safe to land in London airports.
Although taking the crazy weather into account it isn't guaranteed that it won't snow again...  :)

I live relatively near Heathrow and there's no snow in our forecast at the moment.
