Avenue Q - have you seen it?

If you've seen this show, what did you think of it?  Is it funny?  Do you think it's suitable for teenagers?

We (DH and I) saw it on Broadway last October!  We both thought it was hilarious (I was skeptical, but I ended up really enjoying it.)  The subject matter is pretty mature, but I think it would be suitable for 16+, it's probably too mature for younger teens.

Thanks, springhaze.  My 17 year-old son wants to see it, and I am uncomfortable with the idea.  I know he's almost certainly encountered mature stuff by now, but . . . it's closing at the end of March, so it's now or never, I guess.

mm, I can understand your reluctance- I think my mother would have had issues with me going to see it at 17 if she knew what it was about (I'm 24 now.)  But thinking back to when I was 17, I had already encountered worse by that point- many R rated movies are more mature than Avenue Q, if that helps at all.

I agree with springhaze; it's mature, but definitely not worse than an R rated movie.  Plus, it's hysterically funny and smart.

Thanks, both of you.  I've checked it out on the web, and it frankly didn't look all that hilarious to me, so it really helps to hear from people that have seen it.  He seems to have his heart set on seeing it, which is amazing in itself, since he's not particularly into theater.  The last time he showed any interest in stuff like that was when he was about 10, and we went to one of the last performances of Cats.  I suppose this can be a slightly early 18th birthday present. (18 - yikes!)
