Last year I tried to give up smoking...that lasted until Arsenal played Man Utd in the Cup... and I also stopped eating fish.  Dan went completely veg.  I may try the same again.

The good news is that we bought a big bottle of maple syrup at the weekend.

 ;D

Oh crap, I'm going to need to go on the maple syrup hunt again.   :-\\\\

Ooh, I like really think American-style pancakes.  DH makes them quite thin...more like crepes.  We agree on pretty much everything else.

UK Pancakes are crepes.  They just refuse to call them crepes.   ::)  (kinda like how they call fillet a fill-eT steak).  :P

My DH likes American Style pancakes, but he just won't eat 'em on Pancake day.  We go to his parents house and his Mum makes pancakes for the family.   :)  That reminds me - this year DD can eat Pancakes!   ;D  (This owt to be interesting.)

We do American in the morning and British at night.  ;D I even make some pizza British pancakes (spread with thin layer of sauce, add cheese and some toppings, roll and keep warm in over for a couple of minutes until cheese melts).

American style with an over-easy egg on top and crispy American style bacon. Can't stand syrup any other way than mixed with peanut butter spread on saltine crackers, and then it has to be white Karo syrup.

Mmmm, definitely English pancakes on Pancake Day, as it only proper tradition.  We eat American ones for breakfasts/dinners during the year, but I think a good mix of sweet & savoury flat pancakes on the The Day is much more fun!  Hmmm, must plot to buy some ham & cheese (and mushrooms) for the savoury ones - sweet are best with Nutella, yummmmmmmm.

I know!  Last year we didn't eat too many because I might have melted the plastic spoon I was using to remove them from the oil.  Ahem.

This year I will get a metal one.   ;)

I can't promise they'll do the same this year, but last year Aldi had maple syrup for around 3 pounds or so.  Whatever it was, it was a lot cheaper than the only other option for me in this town, which was the aforementioned ripoff Sainsburys price.  :D

Aldi also had some blueberry syrup (and raspberry, and strawberry I think) a few months ago.  I've no idea what occasion it was for, but they were tasty enough for us to go back and pick up some more before they were out.  I'm not a big fruit syrup fan, but I do have a special place in my heart for chocolate-chip pancakes with blueberry syrup.  Childhood memories and all.  ;)
