I can't promise they'll do the same this year, but last year Aldi had maple syrup for around 3 pounds or so.  Whatever it was, it was a lot cheaper than the only other option for me in this town, which was the aforementioned ripoff Sainsburys price.  :D

Aldi also had some blueberry syrup (and raspberry, and strawberry I think) a few months ago.  I've no idea what occasion it was for, but they were tasty enough for us to go back and pick up some more before they were out.  I'm not a big fruit syrup fan, but I do have a special place in my heart for chocolate-chip pancakes with blueberry syrup.  Childhood memories and all.  ;)

It's American Style pancakes for us only!  We celebrate Pancake Day in Canada so there is precedent.

WE get our maple syrup at Costco.  £13 for a huge jug.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Wow they all sound great.  I will definitely try the nutella and banana I think.  Ummm at Co-op we found a small jar for under £3.  Its not as thick as it shoud be but it was ok.

I am going to make some savoury ones.  I had this dish in a Italian and it was yum  :P

Pancakes stuffed with ricotta, spinach and tons of mushrooms.  Rolled and placed into a dish with a very thin white sauce and melted cheese on top!  :P :P :P A little bit like pancake enchiladas!!

Probably going to have a heart attack after all that cheese..but,,hey ho!  ;)

I am seriously going to have to try this if the DW lets me.  you know the waistline, heart attack and all.  But it sounds great, like something I would like to have more than just once a year on Pancake day

You can't ever have too many mushrooms, I say.  Are you using regular white mushrooms, or a different kind?

It's called Cannelloni.

It's a Christian thing.  Families had to use up all the eggs and flour in preparation for Lent fasting.
