Whilst my DH was a boy, he used to be a young choister for his church, practice was on a friday night and he had to walk through an alley on the way back home home. He told me that whilst walking in the snow as it was (how apt!) with his dad, he found 20p, and as he walked every few steps he kept finding change, 10p, 50p etc, all in all he found £3.85 in change! Now he tells me to walk with my eyes on the ground!!
Saying that his dad always tells him that too, especially in car parks!! lol

My wife was having our oldest and she went into the tv room and a prison guard from another ward left his wages in a brown envelope sitting on the window sill when she took it to the dest the chap had not even realised he lost it. (dont know how much was in it but it was a lot).

Tom our 2nd boy found a wallet at heathrow airport they were coming over to see me and he handed it into a security guard, they said thanks and gave him some vouchers to spend then told my wife how good he was (she had no idea as she was dealing with flights whilst this went on) the person was on my wifes plane and he never even said thanks to Tom, how rude, and there was a few thousand pounds in the wallet.

But we were really pleased with Tom.

I found a 10 euro note in my seat cushions on a flight I was on once.  I thought I'd dropped my wedding ring down them (found it elsewhere) and found 10 euro instead.  I asked a flight attendant if anyone had reported missing it - they told me to keep it, it's your lucky day.

This one is a bit freaky.

When my dad died my mom went thru his wallet and she found several hundred dollars in his wallet and she went thru it and then found another several bills. He always had money stashed in his wallet.

Anyways I asked her if I could have the wallet before I left to go back home after his funeral, she gave it to me and on the way home I told my ex wouldn't it be funny if I found more money in his wallet and I did...I found $400 in his wallet.

I know my mom didn't put it back in there cause she was freakin out about having enuf money after my dad died.

btw we REALLY needed that money right then as well........

My dad used to walk in front of my mom and throw pennies down for her to find.  It took her a while to catch on.   ;)

My husband and I once found a wad of money wrapped with a rubber band lying on the floor in Home Depot.  It was something like $350 - $500.  My husband gave it to the teenage employee who took his phone number and said he would call us if nobody ever claimed it.  We thought the employee would probably pocket the cash because there was no wallet or ID of any kind, but after about a month some guy called the house to say he was the person who'd lost the money and that he wanted our address to send us a thank you card.  The card came and there was $20 in it too.

I found $700 blowing around on a sidewalk once in the US outside where I worked.  I was so excited, I was shaking.  But someone came around looking for it.  They had cashed their (whole) paycheck at the bank next door, and then apparently dropped the cash as they left.  Who does that?  Anyway, I gave it back to them because I felt sorry & thought about what if I'd been in the same situation (cos I lived paycheck to paycheck).  They gave me $50, and I think they might have also sent me flowers afterwards.

I once found a $20 in a grocery store.  Being an unemployed single parent with a little mouth to feed, that could have helped me.  But I realized that it might have been all someone had, so I turned it in to the courtesy booth.  They took my name and number, saying that I could have it if it weren't claimed in 2 weeks.  I ended up with the $20.

I told DH last night that we should start tracking how much we find! (We found a total of 25p last night during our walk about the city.)

Maybe, to those interested, we can start a group and all of us track what we find in the next so many weeks months or years?

Cool! We should pick a date, decide what sort of time scale reporting we should use (daily, weekly) & how long we want to keep this going for, and start a new thread. Maybe under other games or chit chat?

I'm not sure I could handle daily, but weekly would be OK.  Anyone else interested?
