Bisquick at Morrison's
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:48:40 AM »
I know some have spotted it at Sainsbury's before, but this is the first time I've seen it at Morrison's. Just thought I'd let people know!  :)

I made my own pancakes this morning using flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, an egg, milk, and butter.  No Bisquick required!  It was easy & cheap by comparison.  :)

I have seen Bisquick in Morrisons here recently - I think they just have it now in advance of Pancake Day, as it's on their seasonal pancake display.

ETA: And I dipped my British bacon in my pancake syrup!  DH told me I ought to watch out doing a thing like that here, because I'm liable to get my citizenship revoked for committing an offense like that.  ;)

That's the only way I've ever made pancakes. I've never bought Bisquick in my life and really don't get the appeal!  :o  But I do know that lots of UKYers seem to be searching for it, so I just thought I'd pass on the info. Although it does sound as if it's everywhere now.

He's quite right - it's almost treasonable, and anyway you should be using castor sugar and lemons only not all this  newfangled fancy syrup stuff.  But I'll give you a character reference if the case comes to court! ;)

In my family, we used to take it when we went camping, I think just to have fewer individual ingredients to take.  (And then we'd end up getting it at other times as well.)  But on that note, a person really could just mix up a container of the dry ingredients needed, then you'd just have to add the milk, egg & butter.

...and anyway you should be using castor sugar and lemons only...

We'll be having that kind on Pancake Day.  But today was American-style breakfast pancakes and bacon dipped in syrup - none for DH, all for me!

As far as the Bisquick in the shops now, better get it while the gettin's good if you want some - because I'd be really surprised if Morrisons started carrying it all the time, I think it's just in advance of Pancake Day.

You're probably right that its seasonal.

Tesco's sell it year-round.  I have a massive container of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake mix (approx £3 from Costco).  For some reason I've always had a hart time making decent US pancakes from scratch.   :P

The only thing I use Bisquik for is quick biscuits.   ;D
