My hubby bought hundreds of little yellow rubber ducks ( relates to a joke we used to tell eachother ).  When I say hundreds..I mean ridiculous amounts! and put them in the garden with lots of candles everywhere.  He shaped some of the ducks into the shape of a heart and led me in the garden with my eyes closed.  Told me to open my eyes and I was stood in a heart shape of these ducks while he was on one knee with a ring in his hand.

Might seem daft to some, but it was cute.  :)

;D I've been married for 10 years and still haven't gotten a proper one. Good luck.

LOL. Yeah, I'm not counting on it. It's just sort of understood. Not terribly romantic, but the end result's the same.

DH proposed to me on a bench overlooking the Campsie Fells.  It was so sweet, but shortly before he asked, we started hearing gunshots coming from the base of the hills.  It must have been some folks below shooting for target practice.  We joked about how very UN-funny it would have been if he'd been hit by a stray bullet right in the middle of his proposal.  That would have been a real drag, to say the least. ;)

DH proposed about three months after we started dating in college.  He brought me flowers, read me poetry, the whole "romantic" thing.  Shortly after, we realized it was way too soon to even think about that kind of commitment, so we decided to let it go.  It was at that point I was told "I proposed this time, it's your turn next".

Five years later I did.

My fiance took me to Las Vegas for my birthday and on the morning of my birthday came out of the bedroom with tears in his eyes and said he had some bad news..he said that he was breaking up with me...I was completely stunned and speechless..I asked him why he brought me to Vegas and he said he thought he should make our last time together special...I couldn't even begin to think what was going on I was numb...and when I asked why are you breaking up with me he said you know I am not good with words so I wrote you a letter...I couldn't believe I had to read a letter while crying..as I started reading it...it talked about all the things he loves about me and how I make him feel..I was still waiting to hear why he was breaking up with me..and by the time I got to the end of the letter I was crying for a different reason...he proposed in the letter that we get engaged...I couldn't believe it ..I was crying of happiness and he was crying because he was happy...he then took me on a gondola ride at the Venetian Hotel and to the Bellagio for dinner..it was a very romantic day...(he never came out and asked me to marry him...he said he wants to surprise me with that..so I am sure soon I will get a proper proposal...seeing as the wedding is in August of this year hehe)

Anyone who has met my husband knows his English is pretty poor.

But I HAD been teaching him for a year!!

He said "Do you marry with me?"

I said "Try that again, your grammar is terrible."

He tried a few more times.. then I let him say it in Japanese.

Anyhow, I'm cruel like that.  But it was pretty funny. And now I make sure my students know how to say "Will you marry me", just in case.

Yes, they have!  LuckyCuz was.  I was, too!

Mike took me back to Ireland, back to the place where we had met for a little vacation.  It was early April and hardly anyone was around.  (The place is a combo hostel and workshop facility with a stone circle out back).  After dinner he said to put something warm on and he blindfolded me.  He led me all around the place (so I wouldn't know exactly where I was going) and then into the stone circle.  When the blindfold came off, the sun was setting and there in the middle of the stone circle he had spelled out in big pieces of wood, "Will You Marry Me?".  There were a few torches (real torches, not flashlights) lit and candles as well.  He gave me my silver pendant (in lieu of a ring--we're not diamonds people) and asked me to marry him.  It was very romantic.

See, I think this is AWESOME, because my DH and I also have a thing about ducks - he proposed to me at a duck pond and we had a duckie-themed wedding! :D

Is it just me or is that kind of cruel? And not in a funny way.  ???

See I was thinking it was that "we can't be girlfriend/boyfriend anymore.... because we're fiances now!" or something... ???
