What's in Croydon?
« on: February 14, 2009, 11:32:11 PM »
I will be taking the train to Croydon for my biometrics next week.  I will be arriving almost two hours prior to my appointment.
Does anyone know what is located near there?  Is there somewhere for coffee close by, or shops to browse?  I don't mind walking for a short distance but don't want to get too far away.

Can you tell us approximately where in Croydon your appointment is?  I am one of those people who would straight off go to where my appointment is located to verify I got everything right and then scout around for something to pass the time.

It's the UKBA office in Croydon.  I looked at Google Earth and see that there are several places close by, both for eating and shopping.  It is only about a 5 minute walk from the rail station. I don't see a Starbucks  on the map.  Anyone know if there is one near there?

yeah, it's called the Whitgift Centre, plus there's loads of high street shops nearby if it's Lunar House she's going to.

i dont know what UKBA means

It stands for United Kingdom Border Agency. It is an executive agency of the Home Office. On 3 April 2008 it was formed by amalgmating the BIA (Border and Immigration Agency), UK Visas, and the customs detection section of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. They have a contact centre at Lunar House in Croydon, among other places.

If you're talking about Lunar House, there's a Starbucks on the way from the rail station.

At least there was last year. :)
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"
