Good episode. They finally made Kate seem a bit appealing and vulnerable.

I found this one fairly boring.  I didn't really see it advance the story line more than what we already knew had to have happen.  I do agree above that Kate was actually appealing for the first time every (IMO). She definitely toned down the annoying.

What does "Welcome to the land of the living?" mean? Was it just a soundbyte?

Considering the last time Ben saw John, John was dead, I think it just was a way of saying "suprise!"

And Daniel Farraday, for that matter? He was there while the flashes were going on, then he seemed to have disappeared before they flashed forward to 3 years later.

I think he is still in the 70s, just in cuckoo-land.

OMG just finished watching "Dead is Dead" excellent episode! Does anyone else think that Ben Linus is one of the best written characters on television? He is just brilliant! Played brilliantly by Michael Emerson also...

I feel like things are falling into place and the writing team is really getting their ducks in a row to start unravelling the mysteries. I bloody love this show...just love it.

Excellent episode! Any episode that is Ben oriented is always going to be great - bad wigs aside!  I want to know why he said to say sorry to Desmond.....and does this mean that Locke is well and truly the leader now? I cant see Ben accepting that forever!

Ben is absolutely amazing! (he's my secret crush :P)

Dead is Dead was an excellent episode, I'm so glad that Ben's story arc with Desmond happened the way it did.

Lost is so great this season, it makes up for rubbish heroes!

I concur. Heroes is complete crap nowadays.

But Lost is so great! I'm honestly kind of glad there's an end in sight tho. It makes me feel like it's headed towards a resolution instead of the first couple seasons when there were just more questions and zero answers. And I'm really looking forward to getting to the programme finale and then starting all over again from episode 1 and seeing what everything meant. Like... what WAS the button for? Did the blast door map have anything significant on it? What was smokey the monster doing all that time? SO many questions!

And what does lie in the shadow of the statue? And is that code for something...so much to ponder over.

I thought this ep. still raised some further questions - we still don't know what 'smoke monster' is or was, still no insight to Jacob, and they chopped through the Des/Penny/Ben story so now I personally am on the edge of my seat, terrified that Ben got away with his promise to Charles.  :(

See? I got the idea that Ben stopped short when he saw Charlie, Desmond defended them, and Ben swam off to catch his flight. I didn't get the feeling he came back out of the water to finish what he started. I think the, "Tell Desmond I'm sorry," was for even trying.

Ben has a real weakness for children...which is a nice soft touch. Adults, he isn't crazy about, but kids, well they really affect him.

Yes. He's a kinder, gentler megalomaniac.
