The final episode will be screened simultanously in the UK and US to prevent spoilers getting out - so will be on at about 3am Monday morning in the UK.
I read on the Times website but I can't post a link at the moment

I just watched the last episode.  I'm still sort of confused!  But I enjoyed it anyway.  :)

ditto.  i think  they  were  writing week to week  and the ending came around and they had  to wrap things up as  neatly as possible..

OK, I avoided this thread all day until I could watch it tonight. All I can say is...
All will be revealed?!! That was a pretty crap ending. And I was disappointed because I really enjoyed the first two hours and then right at the end, I was thinking "WTF?!" It seemed like such a cop out. And yeah, it was confusing. I had to watch the end a few times and various other pieces of it just to let it sink in.  :-\\\\

Thanks for posting those. I pretty much understood everything along their same lines, I just thought it was disappointing. I mean, I did enjoy all the reunions and everything, and that gave some closure, but it left too many holes and what seem to be wasted episodes in hindsight. Like, why bother spending so much time focusing on Walt being special if they were never going to say why? Or why spend a whole episode on that couple who killed each other over the diamonds if they didn't even matter? They weren't even there in the end. I think they could've ended the show in a different way.  :-\\\\

I was just about to post the Washington Post links. I felt very satisfied by the finale, but I still had a few things to mull over so I liked reading their analysis to get some new theories. That's one thing I loved about this show - it always made you think. There's far, far too much tv that just makes you switch off your brain and drool at the screen, and I loved that after every episode of Lost, I had things to think over and theorise for the next few days.

The finale wasn't perfect (hell, people would still be pissed off if it was just a 10 hour Q&A session with the creators!) but I do think it gave excellent closure to the major story arcs, and stuff like Juliet's "let's go grab a coffee" line tied very nicely back to earlier episodes.

(the terrible day-for-night rain machine filming was kinda distracting though. Shame they didn't have a bigger budget!)

Words cannot describe how disappointed I am with season 6 and the finale.  After the producers saying that it would not end in purgatory/limbo....

Needless to say, I'll never watch anything Cuse and Lindelof have their hands in ever again.

Thats exactly what I said to my husband, nonetheless I have thoroughly enjoyed every single episode of Lost, even the duff ones, and the ride was fantastic, the end, however, was crap. What a disappointment.

DH and I were talking about the finale, and although we were both vaguely annoyed that the more science-fiction bits seemed to get dropped this season, we did really have a problem with what they did--just what they didn't do.  Does that make sense? For example, we liked the reunions and everyone figuring out their connections and Desmond being awesome, but we wished there had been something else--not that it was bad..just incomplete?
Anyway, I rewatched the pilot as well--this show was really tons of fun with the occasional nonsense.

Uhh, it didn't. All the island and Oceanic 6 off-island stuff was real. It was just the sideways reality in the last season which was some sort of afterlife...

Purgatory/limbo/afterlife....whatever.  It was my understanding they were not going to play that card.

Agreed here.  The creators said 3121283746283476983674 times that it would not end with everyone being dead.

I was really disappointed due to the hype of "all will be revealed" and really nothing was (IMO - as others have stated with all the loose ends and remaining unanswered questions).  If they hadn't played up that up so much, I probably wouldn't have been so disappointed.  It's like they psyched you up for a huge banana split with extra syrup but gave you a small bowl of plain vanilla instead.  Gee thanks.

That's how I feel. I loved watching it and making my own theories and listening to everyone else's ideas. I even loved most of the final episode, but the very end was a serious letdown.  >:(
