Appointment for in person ILR
« on: February 24, 2009, 12:52:18 PM »
I have looked around and must be blind.

How far in advance can I book for an in-person ILR?

Thanks to anyone.

On the guidance form it says:
To apply in person, you must make an appointment in advance with one of the PEOs. If you make one for some time ahead, please check that the application form you use is still valid on the day of your appointment.
If you are taking or have taken the Life in the UK test, allow at least two working days between passing the test and the date of your PEO appointment.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

When I booked an in person appt in 2007 you could book up to 4 weeks ahead of time, but I seem to remember someone posting here last year who said that they had started taking appointments up to 6 weeks in advance.  I would call up at 6 weeks ahead and see what they say.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

Depending on the PEO, they can take up to 8+ weeks to get an appointment.  It has totally slowed down now that they are doing double duty on the Bio for the FLR(M) stuff.  I waited until I was within 28 days and that was a big mistake.  There is no harm in calling early (like 8 weeks before the date you would like) and chancing it with the IEB call centre agent.

Agreed.  I called 28 days prior to my expiry date and was only given the option of 9am or 9:30am on the day before my visa expired (a Friday).  If anything had gone wrong with my application we'd have been hard pressed to get it fixed and in the post by the next day!!

Thanks everyone.  I will give them a call about 6 weeks in advance and see how it goes.

That will be in about a week, hopefully by then I will have passed the test.

My experience was from August 2008.

I called 8 weeks b/f my visa expired - or (4) weeks before I wanted an appointment.  Got an appointed 27 days b/f visa expired.  Perfect for me.

I don't think you can book this far in advance anymore, and I know they are a lot busier now anyway.

Called : 02 February 2009
Appointment Booked for : 05 March 2009

I wanted an appointment on the 13th of February as I was off that day but they did not have anything available in either Liverpool or Sheffield.  So my next day off work was March 5th and I was able to book that day in Liverpool.

Just got me thinking that I am now about a week away from my appointment so I need to get my paperwork together! *ugh*  Hopefully this ILR (M) will be the last thing I have to do for quite awhile!  :)  I haven't even filled out my application yet, I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend!

My appointment was mid-December 2009, and I booked it more than four weeks in advance, but not MUCH more - probably five and a bit.
