Dollhouse
« on: February 24, 2009, 04:51:54 PM »
I know this just started in the US about two weeks ago.  I'm wondering if anyone has seen it?  What do you think?  I've read mixed reviews.

I really want it to be good.  I LOVE JOSS!!!

Thank you!

I am also a big Joss Whedon fan...but I was extremely disappointed by the first episode! The second ep was better...and I guess you could say it has grown on me enough that I'll give it a third chance...but I'm still having trouble with the whole premise of the show!

Thank you so much. ;D I'm willing to give it a chance (at least three episodes) the premise does sound a bit odd to me.

I've got the first two eps downloaded but haven't been able to stay awake long enough to watch them. :P   I've heard from several people that 1x02 should have been the pilot - that it's a better intro to the show and is much more Joss than the pilot.  I'll let you know what I think once I have a chance to watch - like you, I LOVE Joss and really want this to do well (I also want them to hurry up and release Dr Horrible on DVD in the UK!!). :D

My parents have been recording the episodes for me. Maybe I'll save myself and watch number two first. Thank you.

I've got Dr H downloaded from iTunes.  ;D

I splurged and bought Dr Horrible from iTunes back last summer, and have the mp3s of Commentary: The Musical!, but as iTunes is required to play both, I can't currently sync the video of Dr Horrible with the audio of Commentary so DH still hasn't seen it in all its genius (though the Commentary soundtrack is a permanent fixture in our car!). :P

I really want to love Dollhouse since I'm such a HUGE Joss Whedon fan.  The first episode didn't grab me. Second was better but still...

I keep trying to tell myself that the first season of Buffy wasn't so good either, but they've rewritten and reshot so much of these first episode and they are still weak?  Worrisome. I also (very very sadly) wonder about Eliza Dusku's ability to carry a series. I don't think she's that strong of an actor.  And premise-wise, I find the suspension of disbelief so much harder than with Buffy or Firefly.  I keep getting distracted from the plot by thoughts like "That doesn't make any sense," or "But they just couldn't *do* that."

I keep hoping. And watching Chuck.

I haven't watched yet (mostly because I'm terrified it'll suck), but I do know Joss has said that the show really hits its stride the second half of the season.  Granted, that may not have been the best way to plot out a TV show that has a small chance of doing well from the get-go, but it does give me a glimmer of hope.

Besides, if it does suck, I could always cleanse my palate with a Firefly/Serenity marathon.  Shiny!

See, that's what people say about SPN, and I still haven't made it past 1x13 because it just doesn't do it for me. :(  Oh, Joss - shooting yourself in the foot from the get-go!

Ooo... I hadn't heard that!  My friend keeps pestering me to start watching (we have very similar TV tastes), but I haven't gotten around to it.  Hmm.  May have to rethink the ol' Netflix queue.

Supernatural. I haven't watched it yet but many people with my tastes seem to like it. I think I'll need to get the DVDs.

I heart Chuck. <G>  It's my favorite new(ish) show.

I've been having Buffy withdrawals here! When I'm in the States (where my DVDs live), I don't often watch it. But here, where I can't even get episodes online, it's all I want to watch!  I've taken to watching snippets of things on Youtube. How sad is that?  ;D
