I just can't wait to get my Spike on ;)

Ohhh the musical! I'm getting excited now.

Amy, I know they show it on TV here, just not sure of the channel(s) or what season they are in.

Ooo... I hadn't heard that!  My friend keeps pestering me to start watching (we have very similar TV tastes), but I haven't gotten around to it.  Hmm.  May have to rethink the ol' Netflix queue.

IMO, it's like Buffy meets the X-Files - very monster-of-the-week.  Supposedly the whole mythology and intricate storyline kicks in during the latter half of S1, but so far it's been the Hook Man and Bloody Mary and a ghostly killer Mack truck and at least a couple of eps that are VERY reminicent of XF eps - one in an apple orchard that I swear is the same one as the one in S5 of XF and another, SPN 1x02 (Wendigo) that feels very much Detour, the one in the forest where people keep getting snatched by something that blends into trees.  It's entertaining, but I dunno - it just lacks *something* for me.

Don't say Bloody Mary, it's still scary to me!  42 years old and it still creeps me out.  I think I actually saw the Hook episode!

"Spike lips!  Lips of Spike!!" ;D

I could spend DAYS quoting that show!!

I didn't really watch all that much X-Files when it was on, so that could be an advantage!

See, that's how I feel about the Hook Man!  *shivers*  OMG, I'm home alone tonight and I don't really want to think about that!!  EEEK!   :o

Could be!  IMO, you need to Netflix XF instead of SPN! :D

I really want to love Dollhouse since I'm such a HUGE Joss Whedon fan.  The first episode didn't grab me. Second was better but still...

I keep trying to tell myself that the first season of Buffy wasn't so good either, but they've rewritten and reshot so much of these first episode and they are still weak?  Worrisome. I also (very very sadly) wonder about Eliza Dusku's ability to carry a series. I don't think she's that strong of an actor.

I am SO right there with you...I never really liked the character Faith on Buffy, but my DH said that wasn't a good reason to pooh-pooh Eliza Dushku. So I said Ok - lets give it a shot, and I still don't think she's that great of an actress or compelling enough to make a show.

And premise-wise, I find the suspension of disbelief so much harder than with Buffy or Firefly.  I keep getting distracted from the plot by thoughts like "That doesn't make any sense," or "But they just couldn't *do* that."

My thoughts exactly. ESPECIALLY in the first episode. It just seems too over the top - I mean, why not hire a *REAL* [insert:professional/escort/model] ?? It seems like it would be significantly less hassle. And when someones life is at stake? Yeah, I'm going to hire someone who has had the experience "implanted" into their brain.

I'm trying really hard though...

Oh - and this is kind of off-topic BUT has anyone seen TV ads for that new show Castle? Nathan Fillion is in it! I have to tape it just for that. He's too amazing. Sigh firefly.

Oh, no no no no no.  The main reason I didn't watch it in the first place was because it gave me the heebie jeebies!

I totally didn't have a clue it was coming until my flist started talking about it post-Oscars!  I have such a HUGE crush on Nathan, especially after Dr Horrible (and the awesome commentary - OMG!) - so I will definitely be watching!!

Okay, then I'm thinking that SPN may well not be a good fit for you. ;D  I definitely find it freakier (in terms of BOO! suspense, which I am not a fan of, really) than XF ever was.
