US credit report online?
« on: February 25, 2009, 04:01:13 PM »
This is ridiculous...I have tried all three credit reporting places, and none of them will give me my credit report online. It does me no good having it by post when I live in the UK...

They ask me stupid questions that I KNOW the answers to, then tell me I have it wrong...wtf? I'm the one that lived my life, not them. I know my old addresses, and yet it will not let me input them, then says they can't verify my identity and so won't give me my credit report.

I'd like to know my score before we go over so we can decide what to do about things like a car etc.

Moved to the UK April 2006
Married March 2007
Moved to the U.S. June 2009

Husband accepted new job in UK April 2016
Returning to UK Aug/Sept 2016!

Moved from UK-Germany 2022

I actually work for a company that does credit checks for tenant screening, and we've had lots of people calling us wondering where to get their own.

You won't want freecreditreport.com, as you only get it for free if you sign up for a service.

Go to http://annualcreditreport.com ... you are allowed one free credit report per bureau (there are three: experian, transunion, and equifax) per year. So three in total.

Let me know if you have any more credit report questions! I can also point you in the right direction if you need to dispute something that shows up on your credit report.

http://www.freecreditreport.com/

This is a paid service and they are real scum, funny commercials notwithstanding. If you want the federally mandated free credit reports from all the agencies, use the link from stephoodle's post above: http://annualcreditreport.com

However, those won't give you your credit score. They are not required to, so they don't. To get your FICO score, you need to buy it from each agency, and to add misery to misery, one of the three (I think it's Experian) no longer provides FICO score to consumers, even for money, cause of some licensing dispute with Fair Isaac.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Yeah, the whole credit report industry is a load of crap, if you ask me. The more I learn about it, and how the information is compiled, the mistakes that can be made and how unfair it all is...

I want out of this business as soon as I find another job. It's all kind of scummy, really.

I've never used them - only seen their ads.  I had no idea, but probably should have guessed.  Thanks.

It's okay. They're really sneaky about it, and they've got the advertising cornered.

I thought it was actually free until I started working here.
