Has anyone mentioned 'Purely Belter' yet?  Or 'Goal'?  Both films a must for those living in the North East.

I saw Purely Belter, but didn't like it. Generally I have a hard time sympathizing with antagonists of the criminal persuasion if there isn't a proper comeuppance.

I Capture the Castle, but read the book first.

Filmed in Peel, Isle of Man! on St Patrick's Island

The only redeeming quality that "Love Actually" has is the performance of Bill Nighy.

I second that!  I'd almost forgot the writer falling for a cleaner who doesn't speak a word of English! How exactly do you fall in love if you don't know a thing about the person and have never had a conversation?  Never mind. Just not my cup of tea.... but I did love Bill Nighy and am looking forward to his new film, Boat that Rocked...think that's the title..

Hey I liked Dog Soldiers! It was funny, campy and gorey---all the makings of a good horror film.
If we called them Sad Meals, no one would buy them.

Hee hee, The Boat that Rocked is written by Richard Curtis, the same film maker who wrote Love Actually:D  He also did Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral.  In an interview in the Sunday Times he was quoted as saying "There's this idea that if you write about someone falling in love - which happens a million times every day - that's unrealistic and sentimental, but if you write about women being brutally murdered by a serial killer - which happens, in we're unlucky, maybe once a year in the UK - then that's searingly realistic.  I just don't understand the mathematical truth of that."

All the same, I wasn't a fan of Love Actually either. ;)  :) I did like Four Weddings and a Funeral though.  I'm looking forward to The Boat that Rocked too.

I think we should count Bridget Jones' Diary. It's still a British film, IMO, even though the lead is an American. I seriously love that movie... probably because I am clumsy and have a penchant for saying the wrong thing all the time. The second one disappointed me, though, it was such a rehash of the first one.

I love About a Boy, one of my all-time faves!!! Also, I liked 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz.

I think of Muriel's Wedding as sort of British, even though it's Australian. I guess it's because Toni Collette is in it.  :-\\\\  Love that film, anyway.

She is Australian.  Quite a few people mistake her as being English.  She is a great actress.

Jewlz - If you like those types of films.  Seriously - watch Jack & Sarah.  :P

Confetti is the only rom-com in my DVD collection!  Lurvey durvey movies usually make me queasy but this one is very funny and sweet.
