You need to have a foreign tax home so at some stage you'd file a UK Return with HMRC.

Do you mean self-assessments, P86, P60 etc.?
I have copies of those.

No - a foreign tax home; take a look at IRS Code section 911 and related IRS Regulations to find out what this means.  There is no requirement to file copies of UK tax returns etc if that is what you are enquiring?

I am really sorry for asking again:
But i was in UK for 3 years working for a US affiliate company, getting paid in UK etc.
I was paying taxes in UK but filing 2555 in US since i am PR in US.
Does it satisfy?

Thinking about it further. I thought P86 submitted to Inland Revenue determines is THE Document.
Correct me if i am wrong.

The P86 is a non-statutory UK document which has little to do with US tax.  As a green card holder you may not want to claim you have a foreign tax home if this contradicts with telling US immigration that you are a legal permanent residence of the US.  Take immigration advice on this.

Interesting. I spoke to US IRS today, specially their official who could answer question about filing 2555, after calling 1.800.829.1040

Offcer asked me specifically if i was citizen/PR and was not working from Cuba etc.
Countries which we don't have relation/tax treaties etc.

Then she said, if i had "tax home" in UK during that period, was paying UK taxes etc and NOT claiming benefit of Tax treaty to avoid paying in Taxes in UK, by doing this:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i8802.pdf [nofollow] then filing Form 6166?
but saying that i am paying Taxes in US!

Then  filing 2555, then it will be a Sin/grave mistake.

If i had a tax home in UK and was paying taxes in UK, even with US PR. Then i need not submit anything to IRS, just file 1040 and form 2555. I think IRS can cross-check with their counterparts in UK about 2555 numbers.

So in the above context, the THE Document, does not exist in this case.
