The best thing is a Bloody Mary, of course - with lots of tabasco.

I second that, but a virgin bloody mary is just as good if you want to avoid the booze content.

Foodwise, there's two types of things that'd cure my hangover: red sauce (Pizza Hut pizza or pasta or breadsticks), or BBQ (Wings).  Plus soda.  Lots of soda.  Then a nap.

It's rehydration salts sold in sachets.

Some vitamin B12, a glass of water and some ibuprofen before you go to bed, works magic!  Have fun with you friend!

This is NOT smart and I definitely don't do this in Glasgow (or anywhere these days!), but for some reason, I used to like to take loooooong walks while drunk.  I've walked 8 miles home completely bombed...alone, too!  And I won't say it made things better in the morning, but I felt a lot less bad, if that makes any sense at all.  But these are old, stupid single girl things I gave up when I got married.  Now I just stick to the greasy breakfast solution if I overindulge, which is pretty rare.  Haha...being married is so boring. ;)

I used to do this in Denver, but with at least 3 or 4 of us.

Full fat coke, a snickers bar, and salt n vinegar crisps always a great cure for a hangover

Or if I can't stomach any heavy food- a cup of condensed chicken noodle soup

Tons of water, any kind of sports drink, pedialyte (can you get that here?), couple of aspirin, and get up and go!  :)
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Having little kids is the real death knell.   ;D You can't drink to the point where you'll even get a hangover because those bairns are up at dawn demanding the moon on a stick.

I think the best way to deal with a hangover is prevention.

Force yourself to drink water before going to bed.
Put a bottle of water in the bathroom so if you wakeup in the middle of the night you can drink some more.

Make yourself sleep a whole 8 hours.  Sometimes, if you party it up until 2AM your body will still wake you up at 8AM.  Now you are sleepy on top of being hungover.

Avoid drinking tons of caffeinated, alcoholic drinks like Rum & Coke.  It will be very hard to get a decent sleep with the equivalent of 5 cans of coke in your system.

Makes sense.  Walking gets your blood flowing, which helps to increase the level of oxygen in your system and keep your blood vessels from constricting, which they do when you have a hangover.

At the risk of making everyone hate me . . . I never get hung over, no matter how much I drink.  Too much red wine does give me a headache, though, and I find walking helps  :D

I dated a guy who never got hungover, he made 6+ digit salary and we were in our young 20s... I just couldn't keep up with him and partying, I do get hangovers!

I read an article once that explained why we get hangovers, what alcohol depletes from the body and what foods/drinks help to speed up the curing process.  I'll look and see if I can find it again.  The only thing I do remember from it was that you need salt (and water of course).

So true!  DH has two kids and we have them half the time.  I'm amazed by how early they wake up every single day, not to mention how much energy they have for bickering during these early hours!

AnneR once told me to take milk thistle! But I see she didn't mention it in her hangover cure here, so perhaps she's given up on it? I don't often drink to excess these days, but I do find milk thistle works - although perhaps it's psychological.

But the booze helps.  1 quick shot of pure alcohol, ie vodka, and you can't go wrong.

I've also heard about milk thistle, but never tried it.

I agree with the Bloody Mary idea. But B6 before bed is helpful too. When I was in the US, I needed to have 2 Jack in the Box tacos and a diet coke to make it through a hung-over day at work.  :P
